Role Summary:



  • To optimise Johnson and Johnson business by cultivating a sustainable partnership approach with key external stakeholders, including Government Ministers, Civil Servants, Parliamentarians, Political Advisers and Officials, Think Tanks and Academia.

  • To manage government affairs activity and provide counsel across the JENA region for Janssen business.

  • Provide strategic and dedicated support to the Janssen business with cross-functional partnerships to drive impactful programs.

  • Covering: Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Libya and Ethiopia


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design, lead and manage the implementation of allocated Government Affairs plans/projects - which are to be integrated with the WWGA&P and Janssen strategy.

  • Interpret key developments in government health, economic, science and innovation policy, identify the opportunities and threats to the business and develop appropriate plans to compliantly engage in health policy development in line with Johnson & Johnson's strategic and commercial objectives.

  • Lead/ co-lead local programs through cross-functional collaborations, mapping of key stakeholders, external advocacy plans against pre-defined policy shaping objectives.

  • Provide expert counsel and identify specific actions related to government policy for identified issues to Johnson & Johnson senior management.

  • Develop briefing documents that highlight policy issues to ensure consistent approved messaging when engaging with any external stakeholders.

  • Develop effective networks and relationships with key external stakeholders including, but not restricted to Ministers, Civil Servants, Parliamentarians, Political Advisers and Officials, Think Tanks and Academia

  • Strong cross functional collaboration with functions including Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory to develop integrated Government Affairs & Policy plans for Janssen across JENA.

  • Work with all levels of Johnson & Johnson to develop and convey corporate policy issues pertinent to Johnson & Johnson across JENA and articulate Johnson & Johnson's response to those issues.

  • Raise the profile of Johnson & Johnson to positively create an understanding of the company's impact on the healthcare environment across JENA with Focus on Egypt & Jordan.

  • To Support the Senior Director of Government Affairs & Policy on activities relating to global VIP visits and high-level Summit meetings

  • Support the Senior Director of Government Affairs & Policy to build and execute a coherent, integrated government affairs strategy for Johnson & Johnson, aligned to corporate priorities.

  • Lead on the development of Johnson & Johnson case studies to demonstrate investment and commitment to the JENA Region with focus on Egypt and Jordan.


Qualifications
* Bachelors degree or higher
* ‎12-‎15 years of relevant experience
* Experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is strongly preferred
* Experience of policy development
* Strong technical competencies relevant to government affairs
* Ability to translate complex policy issues into comprehensive briefing documents
* Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary processes
* Knowledge of the workings with relevant Government departments,
* Ideally experience within the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance
* Fluency in Arabic and English
