Mechanical Design for Manufacturing Lead Engineer

You’ll have ownership over:

• lead design for manufacturability (DFM) team


• Simplify assembly strategies to unlock rapid launch and ramp of new products and technologies


• Identify and challenge perceived constraints; develop creative solutions to competing requirements Develop high level specifications and targets for production lines and battery assembly:


• Design review for assembly order, Assembly documents & 3D files.


• Collaborate with the process engineering team and provide input to equipment development with internal and external partners.


• Identify new technologies to improve manufacturing process


• Develop validation plans to vet and compare equipment and process capability


• Debug and troubleshooting during prototype builds and production ramp


• Create feedback loop with product design team and manufacturing teams to correct part or assembly issues


• Identify, document, and transplant lessons learned across product platforms and production lines


• Develop DFM Guidelines and documentation for internal engineering teams


• Lead Failure Analysis
  You are:


• BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent with ‎6+ years of experience


• Broad knowledge of Fabrication and Assembly strategies and technologies


• Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical fundamental principles


• Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;)


• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills


• Strong creative and lateral thinking skills


• Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD ( SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred)


• Experience transitioning products from low volume prototypes to high-volume production.


• Additional beneficial experience and skills: Experience in automotive, electronics, or battery manufacturing Experience with adhesive dispensing, joining, or test equipment


• Familiarity with, and working knowledge of, mechanical systems: thermal, heat dissipation, vibration, strength, durability, corrosion-prevention, materials, etc.


• Additional complementary skills - programming, mechanical design, fabrication, etc.


• Have strong interpersonal and communication skills. They must be able to balance tight deadlines with demanding engineering requirements. Additionally, they must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams.
