Head of Science - September 2023

We seek an experienced and reflective Science teacher to lead our highly
committed Science department. The successful candidate will be expected to
teach Science across the school including their specialist area at GCSE and
IB. The Science department works effectively as a team sharing ideas and
promoting learning which has contributed to high academic standards.
The school has excellent science facilities including a purpose built science
area. The position will be available from ‎1 September ‎23. The school offers
personal professional development and opportunities to contribute in a culture
of school improvement . Previous experience of leadership roles in Science in
a UK National Curriculum or a British style international school context is

Person Specification
* graduate in Science related degree with qualified teacher status;

* recent experience teaching British national curriculum and GCSE, A level or IB;

To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have QTS and a MINIMUM
of three years teaching post qualification teaching experience.
Remuneration
The British International School, Cairo (BISC) operates a similar teaching
scale to schools in the UK which increases with teaching experience. All
salaries are tax free and paid in Pounds Sterling. The current basic salary
for a teacher with three years ' experience is £‎34,000 p.a. while the salary
of the majority of staff (six years experience or more) is over £‎40,000 p.a.
In addition all overseas contract teachers benefit from a generous housing
allowance (circa £‎1000 per month), private BUPA Gold medical insurance, annual
return flights to the UK, and ‎2 free places for children of school age.
