Sushi Maker

Operations Responsibilities
* Prepare menu items and substitute and required items
* Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish
* Maintain food logs
* Monitor the quality and quantity of food that is prepared
* Identify and report excess food item
* Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
* Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
* Good knowledge of Allergens in different types of food
* Prepare a rich sushi menu with various main ingredients and raw fish (for example, salmon, tuna, unagi)
* Prepare all types of sushi, including Maki, Nigiri and Sashimi by expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish
* Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
* Manage food prep activities
* Coordinate with our staff to ensure proper cooking, considering special requests and food allergies
* Prepare appetizers, soups and salads that are close to the philosophy of Japanese cuisine while recommending new, modern recipes, like sushi burgers
* Maintain hygiene principles in all cooking areas and clean your space at the end of the shift
* Inspect the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes
* Maintain a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination
* Regularly check inventory of food supplies and other products, monitor food stock and place orders
* Report any issues with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty
* Sterilize all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use
* Communicate with staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met

Minimum Qualifications/education
* High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience
* ‎2+ years of related culinary experience
* Experience working with high volume production
Skills
* Highly organized with strong multitasking skills
* Adapt in a multicultural environment
* Excellent listening abilities
* High attention to detail
* English (Full professional proficiency - Required); Arabic is preferable
