Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for an Immigration Liaison Assistant
for a fixed term contract of one (‎1) year, with a possibility of renewal.
The successful candidate will work as part of the Home Office International
Operations (HOIO) team. HOIO has a responsibility for identifying illegal
migration threats to the UK border, preventing inadequately documented
passengers arriving in the UK, and developing criminal investigations against
individuals and organisations that cause harm to the UK. HOIO works with UK
and international law enforcement partners.
The Immigration Liaison Assistant (ILA) will work alongside and provide
administrative support to the Immigration Liaison Manager (ILM) and
Immigration Liaison Officers (ILOs) in their role, and will be required to
engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Providing administrative and organisational support to the Immigration Liaison Manager (ILM) and Immigration Liaison Officer (ILO) as necessary.
* Maintaining HOIO records of visa abuse and forgery trends.
* Conducting verification checks against relevant databases and local establishments as required and with the agreement of the ILO/ ILM.
* Carrying out compliance research as necessary and reporting on findings.
* Replying to correspondence and handling allegations received by HOIO in accordance with relevant legislation, disseminating information where required, and identifying and alerting to the ILOs and ILM when further action is required.
* Handling sensitive material with the upmost regard for protecting information and confidentiality.
* Management of team email inbox, ensuring all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner.
* Organising regional travel, internal and external meetings/conferences in consultation with ILM/ ILO.
The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be
flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating
in the Embassy 's emergency planning and any other response to a crisis
affecting UK citizens.

Eligibility:

* The successful applicant will be required to obtain the necessary security clearance. Higher clearances can be granted only to certain nationalities. For this reason, candidates must be of British, American, Australian, Canadian, or New Zealand nationality in order to gain the level of clearance required for this role.
* Applications will only be considered from those who are currently residing in the UAE and with a current and valid UAE resident visa. Applicants will be asked to provide evidence of their UAE resident visa/ Emirates ID as part of their application.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
* Previous successful team co-ordination and office management experience.
* Previous experience of working with external stakeholders Collaborative approach to colleagues and stakeholder partnerships. Ability to develop and maintain a range of contacts to build effective working relationships.
* Demonstrates courtesy and consideration in dealing with stakeholders. Able to show discretion in handling any sensitive matters, with the trust of all involved.
* Excellent organisational ability with proven ability to manage, plan and prioritise task and workload and a proactive approach to problem solving.
* Proven ability to work autonomously, support others and deliver within timescales.
* Excellent command of written and spoken English. Ability to express ideas and messages clearly and concisely.
* Good working knowledge of IT and in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
* Previous immigration and/or law enforcement experience
* Previous professional experience with an overseas mission or international organisation
* Knowledge of the UK National Intelligence Model and relevant UK legislation
* Advanced MS Excel skills
* Previous experience or knowledge of the travel industry, aviation, and/or security sectors.
* Intelligence Professional Programme (IPP) accreditation or willingness towards obtaining this within the initial ‎12 months from commencing employment.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration
package for this role, including: ‎25 days of leave per annum; on-site swimming
pool, gym, and sports facilities (subject to COVID-‎19 restrictions).
Salary is at AED ‎11,363 per month.
There are no allowances for accommodation or transport payable as part of this
package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection
with this position.
Effective ‎01 January ‎2022, the Embassy will be open from Monday to Friday,
from ‎07:30 to ‎18:00. Conditioned working hours are ‎38 hours per week
(including breaks), and specific working hours for this role will be confirmed
at a later time.
The successful candidate should be flexible in their approach to hours worked
as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of
hours (evening/ weekend). Flexible working arrangements will be considered
based on operational requirements and upon agreement with the Line Manager and
in line with the Embassy's policies.
The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the
Embassy's sponsorship.
