Job Purpose: The Manager Maintenance GSE (Ground Support Equipment) is
accountable and responsible for the direct maintenance activities of all GSE
and vehicle assets across various dAO (dnata Airport Operations), EK Group
operating departments and airline customers at DXB, to meet their operational
requirements, while supporting the strategy of dAO . This is delivered through
the management of six dnata Technical Services (dTS) maintenance Workshops at
DXB and a compliment of approx. 500 staff. The Manager Maintenance GSE also
takes a leadership role in the delivery of the dnata GSE Fleet Strategy,
including the fleet transition to electric and sustainable technology. Job
Outline: Plan - Implement and manage the maintenance and repair program based
on industry best practices, with an emphasis on preventative and predictive
maintenance. - Participate and contribute in the budgetary process which
includes target setting, plan development and performance reviews of the dTS
sections. Take full ownership of the department OpEx and CapEx budget. Deploy
- Ensure that teams are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that
the maintenance and repairs can be accomplished in a safe, timely manner
delivering high quality and cost-effective service. - Manages an interface
between the various dTS sections and other internal and/or external
departments to ensure resource availability (manpower, spare parts, tools and
equipment) and a smooth execution of maintenance activities to meet the SLA
commitments for all of dTS. - Monitor section performance against agreed
maintenance indicators, such as asset utilisation, maintenance cost, PM
compliance, serviceability index, and mean time between failure, to ensure
compliance and continuous improvement. - Direct, maintain, and enforce the
safety program for the maintenance department, review safety records to uphold
standards of maximum safety within the operation. - Working in collaboration
with the Planning, Engineering & Systems team, provide technical support,
input and evaluation for GSE innovation projects, new GSE implementation and
low or zero emission GSE fleet planning to define and deliver the corporate
fleet strategy. Lead - Deliver the dTS vision, ensuring that our people live
and breathe it. As part of the dTS Senior Management Team, see the vision
through and make it come to life. - Conduct performance reviews to determine
competence, knowledge, and contribution of the employees and put together
relevant development plans to upskill employees. - Lead by example
representing the dnata VMVs, demonstrate and ensure a collaborative approach
with other dnata user and support departments. - Drive innovative and green
environmental maintenance and GSE solutions through team creativity to
delivery enhanced efficiency, LEAN methodologies and technological solutions
that benefit both dTS and dnata as a whole. - Leading by example, encourage
best practices and collaboration across dTS, between the GSE groups, Cargo
Terminals, workshops and functions. Proactively support dTS at DWC as
required. Execute - Ensure that special projects that improve efficiency,
reduce operating costs and support new ventures are executed according to the
plan. - Support to other dnata stations may be required on an adhoc or project
basis. - Review the operation/performance/reliability of assets maintained
constantly, to minimise unplanned downtime, pro-actively anticipate problems,
ensure safe operation and identify opportunities for improvement and unit cost
reduction. - Ensures that the Total Cost of Ownership of assets maintained by
the various dTS sections is optimised. - Work with Planning and provide
feedback to the Planning team regarding creating accurate maintenance plans. -
Liaise with other sections of the dTS to ensure that all plans, processes and
procedures are aligned to allow dTS to meet its departmental KPIs. - Ensures
compliance to all relevant safety policies, procedures and controls across the
department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a
responsible environmental attitude
Qualifications & Experience: - Degree or Honours in Engineering preferably
(Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Automotive) OR Served apprenticeship and
/ or with demonstrable equivalent experience in the specific field of Ground
Support Equipment maintenance, Facilities maintenance or Ground Handling
management in an GSE Manufacturer, airline or large Ground Handling operation.
- Experience: 10-12 years of relevant experience in the field of Ground
Support Equipment maintenance management in an Airline or Ground Handler or
specialist vehicle and equipment industry, including at least 5 years in
positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities. - Knowledge
and experience in maintenance management systems and telematics for the
purposes of managing workshop maintenance activities - Advanced budgeting and
cost control in a maintenance environment - IT and computer literacy -
Advanced management, communication, development and leadership skills - Safety
Awareness in ground handling operations and maintenance activities - Advanced
negotiation skills
