Role Purpose
* To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching centre, through the management of in-house teacher development programme and support
* To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
* To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience
* To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission
Accountabilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles


• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students' performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy


• Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students' needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team


• Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards


• Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain the British Council's position at the forefront of best ELT practices


• Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service


• Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:

Qualification

Essentials

• First degree


• Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL followed by ‎2 years' relevant teaching experience.

Desirables

• TEFL Q qualification (DELTA or Trinity Diploma in TESOL)


• Recognised YL teaching qualification, e.g. PGCE/B.Ed in Primary or relevant subject, TYLEC or YL extension to CELTA

Work Experience

Essentials
* ‎2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience
* Experience in teaching relevant age groups specific to the centre:
* Adults General English ‎18+ (‎800+ hours) And one or more of the following:
* Young learners aged ‎6 to ‎10 (‎400+ hours)
* Young learners aged ‎11 to ‎13 (‎400+ hours)
* Young learners aged ‎14 to ‎17 (‎400+ hours)

Desirable

• Experience of teaching Early Years (‎4-‎5 year olds)

Language Requirement

• High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all ‎4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band ‎8/‎9 in each of ‎4 sections of the academic module

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: AED ‎9,922 and AED ‎10,197 per month (depends on the qualification and teaching experience)


• Housing Allowances : AED ‎4,583.‎33 per month

Additional Information

• Contract duration : ‎1 Year


• Teaching Contract : ‎24 contact hours weekly- Teaching staff can be requested to teach at any scheduled time and location


• Work Schedule : The usual current weekly shift pattern is Saturday to Wednesday. This is driven by market needs and can change. Class times and days are driven by customer demand and change according to market opportunity. Teachers ' timetables change accordingly. The peak teaching times in UAE are currently late afternoon (starting from ‎16.30) and early evening (starting from ‎19.00). We offer a few classes in the mornings (starting at ‎09.00).


• Passport requirements/ Right to work in country : All employees must be sponsored, by a company or a spouse and according to current UAE labour law, work visas for expatriate workers over the age of ‎60, will only be issued on a yearly basis.
