  • To assist the Front Office Manager in the administration and management of the daily operation of the Front of House department; ensure profitability, control costs and the total guest satisfaction to the required standards of the hotel.

  • To represent the hotel as The Manager in the absence of the Hotel Manager and ensure the safe running of the hotel during night opereations.

  • To ensure there is a visual management presence at all times and in particular when there are VIPs/special events.

  • To provide continuity of management in complaint handling. After direct contact with a guest an accurate account is to be recorded on the agreed templates with relevant investigation and replied to within ‎48 hours.

  • To provide continuity of management in regards to emergency response and crisis handling - ensuring that staff and guests are aware of the situation and appropriate responses.

  • Ensuring, through floor patrols and room checks that the hotel is operating to the highest standards. Any areas of weaknesses must be reported to the relevant departments and follow-up actioned.

  • To be well versed and compliant with all elements of security and develop an informed level of communication with the Head of Security and their team.

  • To be informed and compliant with all forms of hotel systems and technology, Opera, Onity, Internet access, telephones and able to resolve issues. To have an understanding of Micros and Opera.

  • To meet and greet VIP guests and to develop excellent relations with all guests.

  • To take a full and accurate handover from the previous shift ensuring that all necessary follow-up is recorded and actioned.

  • To be fully conversant with the day's events and respond promptly to the service needs of guests.

  • To ensure that an accurate DM log, providing a written log of the day's events, is maintained to report to the General Manager.

  • The Night Manager is in constant contact with large number of staff and guests and must treat all with respect and display great social etiquette.

  • To have an understanding of the Front Office and accounting procedures in order to deal with financial issues and their resolution ensuring guest satisfaction whilst adhering to set procedures.

  • Must be able to understand the process of achieving the best possible profitability and maximizing of revenue in Rooms and Food and Beverage Departments.

  • Must be totally trustworthy with clients' credit details at all times.

  • To carry out the night accounting function and night reception duties in the hotel to the highest possible standards required by the hotel.

  • To be responsible for all monies signed for at the beginning and end of shift.

  • To carry our miscellaneous accounting procedures as required by the Financial Controller.

  • To complete the End of Days Procedure of Opera computers.

  • To prepare night audit, reception handover report and reports for management.

  • To take responsibility for the operation of the hotel during night.

  • Complete the rate check.

  • To oversee all night staff and ensure they carry out their tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

  • To ensure fire and safety procedures are followed at all times.

  • As duty manager, to prepare for guests' arrival, greet VIP guests on arrival and departure and provide a visual management presence.

  • To give immediate attention to guest complaints, taking necessary remedial actions. Ascertain responsibilities and areas of improvement of all individuals concerned. Document actions taken and report to.

  • Ensure that sufficient staffing is present to meet the daily business demands.

  • Department SOP manuals are in place and updated on a regular basis

  • All employees are trained and fully understand the department SOP manual; training records are kept of this training

  • Employees are given regular feedback on their performance

  • Lead by example.

  • Daily briefings are held with each shift.

  • Training is planned in accordance with the hotel training calendar.

  • Regular department training is planned, and carried out.

  • Eye for details, quality oriented, ability to maintain high standards, well organized with the ability to handle more than one task at a time.

  • Support the rate strategy set forth by the Revenue Team, Maximize Sales and revenue for the hotel, foster a culture of upselling, promoting outlets, services, etc.
