Strategy and Planning
* Plan, implement and direct HSE strategies to ensure operational compliance and excellence across DMC
* Develop DMC policies and processes on health and safety and environment in alignment with regulatory bodies and group polices.
* Identify and communicate certification requirements in order for DMC to meet international and national standards
* Conduct regular sessions with relevant teams to comply with HSE Standards
Operations
* Develop and ensure the proper implementation of annual plans and strategies for the HSE functions in alignment with the group policy and procedure.
* Monitor and evaluate safety practices and procedures with respect to the regulations and standards of regulatory bodies
* Ensure that the HSE programs are effectively in place and are implemented in DMC
* Ensure DMC project developments and operations functions are fully compliant with HSE regulations
* Work with project leadership and management to develop strategies and identify, assess the HSE risks
* Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
* Performs regular safety surveys and inspections
* Prepare reports of findings and give recommendations for corrective and preventative measure where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
* Issue NCRs (non-compliance reports) and follow up on CAPs (corrective action plan) to close it in reasonable time frame
* Inspect and ensure appointed service providers are following and complying with DMC and authorities HSE standards
* Ensure that an adequate programme of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees.
* Ensure that Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are maintained, and communicated to employees
* Ensure that notification and reporting procedures to the relevant statutory authorities are carried out.
People Management
* To lead, motivate and manage all parties involved in the delivery and contribution to the project including third party contractors
* Ensure appropriate workflow management between staff through appropriate delegation of work
* Monitor the performance of staff on an on-going basis, conduct performance reviews against agreed goals and ensure effective staff development
* Identify training and developmental priorities for the department to ensure that all employees possess the requisite skills and knowledge to successfully perform their roles and responsibilities
