Job Description



  • Supervise and allocate tasks to billing team

  • Compile and bill attorney hours on a monthly basis to clients in compliance with the signed engagement letters

  • Adhere to billing instructions and monitor assumptions, as set out in engagement letter

  • Generate Work In Progress reports (WIP) for partners at beginning of billing cycle / after time entry deadline

  • Update billing tracker daily

  • Prepare partner's billing packages (such as, but not limited to, draft cover letters and draft invoices)

  • Edit draft invoices based on partner mark-ups, in accordance with firm policies/procedures

  • Verify client specific rate settlements, apply approved discounts to the invoice

  • Monitor and track discounts and caps

  • Communicate situations, as required, that may require follow-up, as and when they arise; such as but not limited to, rate issues, delays in billing, complex requests

  • Execute complex bills in a timely manner (i.e. multiple discounts by matter, split-party billing, amongst others)

  • Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation

  • Research and respond to inquiries regarding billing issues

  • Create new billing formats

  • Create billing schedules and various other billing analyses

  • Create and distribute monthly reports

  • Be the custodian of the Firm's billing policies

  • Be the champion of all billing related projects and systems implementation

  • Assist in ad-hoc projects

Requirements**
*
College level accounting or Accounting Degree required
* At least ‎9+ years billing experience with ‎3 years in a supervisory role
* Law firm experience highly desirable
* Excellent analytical skills
* Ability to act with discretion, tack and professionalism in all situations
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Multi-task and prioritize
* Organized
* Good time management skills
* Extreme attention to detail
* Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills
* Anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction; follow up on own initiative.
* Proficient in MS Office suite (We need to focus on the level of proficiency in Excel reporting (i.e. Vlookups, Pivot tables etc…)
