Terre des hommes Foundation – Helping children worldwide (Tdh), is the leading
Swiss foundation for children’s aid, with its headquarters in Lausanne, and
registered in Iraq with the No ‎2178598. Tdh aims to create a positive impact
on children's lives in almost ‎40 countries around the world, through our
Health, Access to Justice, Migration and Child Protection transversal
programmes.
Tdh started its operations in Iraq in Dec ‎2014 responding to needs of children
and youth between the age group of ‎9-‎22 years, affected by the ISIL -driven
crisis of ‎2014-‎2017. Due to high unmet needs for children, youth, and their
families affected by the crisis, Tdh scaled up its interventions to ‎12
districts within ‎5 governorates (Anbar, Kirkuk, Ninewa, Baghdad & Salah al-
Din), providing assistance in child protection, juvenile justice, education
and WASH assistance in emergency.
In the long-term, through its Multi-year Country Strategy ‎2022 – ‎2024 and its
long term Vision for the Country Programme, Tdh plans to reinforce and expand
interventions due to the persistent overwhelming needs of children, youth and
families through a NEXUS approach, responding to the protracted humanitarian
needs while contributing to achieving durable solutions for the most
vulnerable and at-risk population groups in the sectors of Child Protection,
Education, WASH and Access to Justice for children, youth and women.
As of November ‎2021, Tdh with its ‎90 staff employees, is currently
implementing a ‎7,5 Million CHF emergency, rehabilitation, and development
program, across the country through its bases and offices in Baghdad, Ninewa,
Salah al-Din and Kirkuk governorates working alongside and in collaboration
with local partners and national authorities. The main donors are USG, UNOCHA,
ECHO, SDC, GIZ, UNICEF. The main coordination office is in Erbil with a multi-
cultural, very experienced, and highly motivated team providing support,
technical expertise and ensuring accountability, while working closely with
the collaborators in the Regional office in Amman, Jordan and the Head
Quarters (HQ) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
About the Job
The JJ social worker is responsible for implementing case management in
detention centres and in the communities in Baghdad to favor an effective
reintegration of children/youth.

Main Responsibilities:

Case management and counselling:
* Identify children in need of case management services, and in line with project demands and requirements, and under the guidance and supervision of his/her line manager, conduct case management for children in contact with the law.
* Develop case plans and follow up on cases as per case management procedures and SOPs specially designed for the project.
* Facilitate and follow up on referral as per case management procedures and SOPs
* Work with children and families to ensure the best outcome possible for the child
* Provide basic counselling to children in contact with the law, and family members and schedule follow up meetings as appropriate
* Provide if needed, life skills sessions to prepare children/youth for reintegration before their release
* Organize family visits as per the SOPs
* Participate in case management meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
Coordination with other teams and services:
* Conduct and regularly update service mapping and develop a referral pathway, in coordination and as requested by line manager
* Disseminate information regarding available resources and services provided in the area of intervention and other areas
* Work in coordination with other teams to identify child protection concerns and children in need of case management services.
Resource management, data management, and reporting:
‎3.1. Use programme resources effectively and with care
‎3.2. Ensure proper record keeping of cases, ensuring confidentiality, and
ensure that data collected is received and recorded by the data management
staff in a timely and accurate manner.
‎3.3. Identify logistic and admin support needs related to the case management
activities, and communicates these to the relevant log/admin support person,
with the knowledge of his/her supervisor.
‎3.4. Ensure appropriate management and storage of program material, equipment,
information.
Problem-solving and teamwork:

‎4.1. Contribute to the management of programme activities, according to the
strategies communicated by line managers and the overall programme manager, in
order to reach programme objectives
‎4.2. Develop common priority actions leading to solutions to the identified
problems
‎4.3. Identify the problems associated with the delivery of the programme and
inform line manager, HR, logistics, beneficiaries in accordance with line
manager’s orientations
‎4.4. Attend and take part in the meetings necessary for passing on information
for the smooth running of activities
‎4.5. Help line manager in setting up the activities schedule every week
‎4.6. Attend relevant trainings on Protection, Child Protection, Case
Management, CCCM and others, in accordance with the line management.Qualifications Requested
This function requires the mastery of Personal, Social and Leadership
Competencies (PSLC), Technical and Methodological Competencies
(TMC) and Management and Strategic Competencies (MSC)
In particular:
* Good command of Arabic and English are required.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (social work, psychology, education, social sciences, etc.).
* Superior organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and to take initiative, with a result-oriented approach and positive attitude.
* At least two years of humanitarian experience is required. Previous NGO experience, and especially case management experience, is a distinct advantage.
* The ability to communicate effectively with children and adults, local authorities and other partners, and express oneself in a clear and concise way.
* Proficient capacity building skills and previous capacity building experience.
* Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS.
* Ability to work in unstable, uncertain or potentially dangerous environments, independently and in a team.
* Ability and willingness to travel within Salah Ad-Din other parts of Iraq.
* Strong cross-cultural communication and resilience skills.
