Logistics
The Corporate Logistics Team plan, move and control the flow of goods from
point of origin to point of consumption across all divisions, markets and
brands within Alshaya. Working closely with brand teams to ensure appropriate
stock and delivery to store, the team manages a range of complex and diverse
activities including shipping, freight, warehouse operations, customs
clearance (in-bound and out-bound), compliance and project management.
Role Profile:
Manage and control the day to day activities of the DC, converting all brand
requirements into operational plans, and providing inspirational leadership to
the operations team to ensure customer service, performance and safety targets
and standards are met in full within the agreed cost budget within your
market.
The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:
Work closely with internal contacts to ensure stock flow from DC whilst
improving productivity and managing operating costs.
* Collaborate with Directors in strategic planning policy development and process improvements.
* Have excellent communication and networking skills to effectively deal with people at all levels and pool internal resources to achieve projects.
* Maintain close contact with internal stakeholders to gauge perceived levels of service and provide senior support where any problems have not been resolved by others.
* Regularly review business performance against set indicators to determine the quality of customer service being provided and take corrective action where necessary.
* Accountable for coordinating and consolidating operational budgets, forecasts, and operating/capital expenditures for Distribution Centers.
* Maintain logistics monthly manpower forecasts and profit/loss budgetary requirements.
* To meet targets through the efficient management of logistics contracts.
* Engage with cross functional stakeholders to drive operational performance, improvements, and costs to agreed targets.
Develop, motivate appraise and train employees.
* Manage staff from diverse cultural horizons and possess a natural strong cultural awareness.
* Have a clear and consistent management style, providing both vision and direction to motivate and influence team to deliver objectives on time.
* Encourage personal development of individuals, ensure that identified training needs are met and maintain appropriate succession plans.
* Allocate ownership and responsibility throughout the management team.
* Be an accomplished Change Manager who is able to motivate others to accept change in the pursuit of optimal performance.
* Planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

* Plan development training strategies for all recognized talent for future growth.
Plan all inventory activities, appraise all procedures for controlling
shrinkage and take corrective action where necessary.
* Driving optimum stock levels, by planning customer demand while mitigating commercial risks.
* Plan for stock take and cycle counts.
* Ensure that stocktaking is conducted as laid down. Control shrinkage in line with company targets. Analyse results and advise corrective actions.
Ensure all housekeeping and health and safety standards are consistent with
company policy.
* Ability to work in a complex cultural and legal environment without breaking any local or corporate rule.
* Ensure that regular health and safety assessments are undertaken and that the related statutory requirements are met.
* Be committed to safety by taking ownership of what happens across all facets of DC operations.
* Health and Safety to be an integral part of Operations providing clear guidance and direction to raise competency for all.
* Create a duty of care environment whilst mitigating risks.
* Use Central H&S resources to support, focus and drive the H&S agenda.
Provide accurate reports and support to internal & external stakeholders.
* Collecting all relevant data and using specific models to analyse and interpret the data and presenting recommendations to internal stakeholders.
* Possess outstanding presentation and customer facing skills with an interest to commercially develop the logistics function by building good customer relations and delivering a first-class service.
* Provide accurate information and support to operations and merchandising teams. Liaise with outside service departments, third party providers and government agencies.
Control all controllable costs and manage all budgets, making recommendations
for costs structures for new budgets.
* Delivery of agreed budget and KPI settings with clear ownership and accountability to manage all costs and KPIs within AOR.
* Full budgetary responsibility for profit and loss, taking full responsibility for setting targets, tight cost control including expenditure and savings and contributing to the budgeting processes.
* Fully appreciate relationships between revenue, cost and profit levels and interpret financial information to Director Level.
* Monitor and control costs against set budgets, taking remedial action where projected spend would exceed the authorized limit.
Ensure cost efficiency and service efficiency for all DC activity.
* To help with improving supply chain management systems in an effort to reduce costs and improve service. You will see the process through from conception to implementation making recommendations regarding warehouse operations, delivery operations and distribution strategies.
* Drive service improvements and cost to serve efficiency through planned change programmes effectively managing SLA's and the first time and long-term internal customer experience with complete operational effectiveness, process standardization/streamlining and margin enhancement high on your agenda.
* Highly disciplined and resourceful team leader with the exceptional capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities with ease while achieving organisational and customer objectives.
* Perform special projects such as distribution benchmarking and other logistics related projects as required by the business and distribution strategy.
* Engage and lead all sustainability projects in keeping with corporate goal
Knowledge:
* Degree in relevant discipline.
* Operational knowledge with recognized retailers, wholesalers, e-commerce, projects, start-ups and go-live.
* Complete understanding of Supply Chains, to include automation.
Experience:
* Knowledge of supply chain systems and ERP platforms.
* Minimum 8 - 10 years in a Senior Logistics position.
* Financial analysis & profit and loss responsibility.
* People Talent Development Programs.
* Possess high levels of energy and a passion for delivering business excellence.
* Ambassadorial projection to internal and external parties.
