Job Description
Job Scope:
Complete management of patients attending the Emergency Room department. This
applies to all emergencies in all specialties. Responsible for the code Blue
calls anywhere in the Hospital.
Job Responsibilities:
* Meets all patients for the Emergency Room, provided they fulfill formalities of the Emergency Room according to the policy and procedures.
* Performs and master the first aid management of different medical emergencies according to policies and procedures.
* Notifies the Consultant or Specialist on duty about the details of clinical data if there is no specialty registrar in the admitting unit and the patients need admission and discuss with him the plan of management.
* Takes patient's history; conducts physical examinations, requests and interprets necessary investigations as the patient's condition mandates and provides the treatment plans for all patients before transfer to the ward in coordination with the admitting unit registrar in Consultation with the admitting Consultant.
* Notifies outside doctors( specialist, consultant) about cases that require admission and discusses the immediate management of the case until the time the patient is transferred to the ward if the condition so demands.
* Registers the clinical data and any change in treatment instructions in the Emergency Room file. (Mentioning the time and date).
* Completes the clinical notes of the Emergency Room files and handover of cases between the two successive shifts with all clinical details.
* Decides and issues sick leave, according to Ministry Of Health regulations and policies of the hospital.
* Participates in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care needs.
* Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Emergency Room Department Policy and Guidelines.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
* MBBS and Master Degree in Emergency Medicine
* Minimum 1 year of experience post Master Degree in relevant specialty
Job-Specific/Technical Skills
* Good communication skills.
* Knowledge of Required Organizational practices/patient safety standards.
* Command over professional code of ethics, medical bylaws.
* Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital.
* Culturally competent (Kuwaiti patients' culture and beliefs).
* AHA certified Basic Life support provider.
