Role Summary
As Ocean Freight Manager you will manage a team of expert ocean freight
forwarders to further develop the ocean freight in the marketplace through
focus on day-to-day Operations, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to
DSV policy and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring maximum operational efficiency across all aspects of the ocean
freight operations
Engage and motivate the team through coaching, performance management and
appraisal techniques.
Assist the Sr. A&S; Manager with preparation of annual department budget/P&L;
and ensure that productivity and profitability goals for ocean department are
met
Full responsibility of the management and development of the employees within
the department. I.e., Performance, Absenteeism, disciplinary hearings with
support of Sr. Manager A&S; & HR Department.
Ensuring that people resources within the department cover the department
workloads. I.e., managing the leave calendar, desk holiday or sickness cover.
Have a fundamental understanding of DSV operational systems
Be responsible for the training and development of ocean staff within the
branch
Be responsible for compliance and quality issues for the ocean product within
the branch, specifically but not limited to:
Compliance with DSV Freight operations procedures
Compliance with local/regional/international government and Federal Maritime
Compliance with Dangerous Goods Regulations (where applicable)
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree or a degree in Logistics/Supply Chain
Minimum ‎8-‎10 years’ experience in Ocean Freight
