Senior Research Analyst, Climate Science and Policy (flexible location)
About the job
This position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a
global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy
and nature. GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation.
We're looking for an innovative Senior Research Analyst with a unique
combination of skills who wants to play a major role in tackling climate
change. You’ll be joining the GSCC Research Unit, which provides research,
insight and analysis to the GSCC network and external audiences including
journalists, policymakers, advocacy organisations, investors and businesses.
This position will report to the Research Director..
How you'll contribute
Providing cutting-edge ​​research and analysis to support compelling and
persuasive narratives and campaigns that drive change in the climate science
and policy space.
Providing expert analysis and strategic insight to network colleagues and
initiatives, and building and managing collaborative projects with colleagues
and partner organisations.
Producing clear and concise briefings on a range of topics across the climate
debate, including areas of natural sciences, climate science, climate policy,
climate justice, climate solutions, climate litigation, and other areas as
relevant.
Keeping up to date with the latest scientific and policy developments in the
climate space, and sharing relevant updates and intelligence with the network.
Supporting the running of a small research team in a production environment,
often working to short deadlines.
Line managing and guiding the development and work of researchers in the
Research Unit.
Our ideal candidate has
An advanced degree or equivalent expertise in a relevant field, such as
natural sciences, climate sciences, public policy or sustainable development.
A proven track record of applying research, analysis and critical thinking to
create impactful research-led interventions in public policy debates.
A strong working understanding of the latest climate-related science and key
issues in climate policy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present
complex information in a clear and concise manner.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional
languages are an asset.
A genuine interest in and passion for addressing climate change and a
commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to the issue.
The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global
community of peers.
The skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work
environment and work across time zones using tools such as Zoom, Slack and
email (Google Workspace).
