About the Role
CNN Business Arabic is recruiting skilled desk journalists to write and
translate business stories and reports that will be part of a top-quality
multimedia file aimed for a broad Arabic-speaking audience, including regional
business and public affairs decision-makers. The successful candidates will be
based in Cairo, reporting to the head of the news desk. Key Accountabilities
* Monitor news feeds on Tweetdeck, web-watcher and a news source aggregator for important economy-and business-related updates and announcements posted by the governments and the central banks of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as companies and newsmakers across all industries - oil, gas, energy, finance, tech, media, telecoms, transport, shipping, real estate, construction, luxury, tourism, lodging.
* Write up spot stories based on the verified updates and announcements, placing accuracy, fairness and factual correctness above all other considerations.
* Translate news and video content from English placing accuracy, fairness and factual correctness above all other considerations.
* Work with editors, reporters, foreign correspondents, writers and video and infographic producers to produce a quality multimedia file.
* Assist the other journalists, reporters, correspondents, writers, and producers in writing and translating content from English.
* Translate and transcribe copy received in English from reporters and correspondents covering conferences and events.
* Assist journalists and reporters in covering live broadcasts of conferences and news conferences.
Qualifications & Experience
* Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
* University degree in business, economics, communication, social sciences, English, or related fields; a diploma in Business English a plus.
* At least 3 years of experience in respected media organizations.
* At least 1 year of experience as business, economy or industry reporter or at least 1 year experience as a breaking news reporter.
