The Opportunity:
This position is accountable to provide clear and timely translations and
production management of low to moderate complexity materials.
What you 'll do:
* Contribute to overall effectiveness of HBCA Head Office Departments, subsidiaries and branch network by providing translation of internal and external documents of low to moderate complexity, including legal, marketing, operational, financial, commercial, technical, etc, as assigned.
* Contribute to protect/preserve HSBC brand value and reputation by providing accurate translation of assigned documents.
* Contribute to the marketing of HSBC products and services by providing accurate translation and formatting as well as timely delivery of assigned material aimed at French speaking customers, actual and potential, across Canada.
* Assist HSBC departments/Senior Management in complying with the HSBC designated language requirements.
* Provide the assigned Reviewer with final versions and be ready to provide reference if required.
* Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.
* Translate assigned projects early enough to allow time for review according to deadlines.
* Proofread, in a timely manner, assigned layouts previously approved by the reviewer to ensure that it matches the English ones.
* Assist Senior Translators in reviewing, editing and approving translated material of internal use and/or of general nature done by other translators or by outside approved agencies, as assigned based on working experience.
* Ensure reference material, lexicon and archives are up to date once the document has been approved by the Reviewer.
* Contribute to overall efficiency of the department.
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:

• ‎3 to ‎5 years of working experience as a Translator. Experience in relevant industry is an asset (e.g., Banking, Finance, Legal, etc).


• Strong knowledge of translation techniques and practices acquired through university accreditation (Certificate or Bachelor specialized in French translation mandatory).


• Full written and verbal fluency in French and English is required.


• Good ability to review / proofread colleague's and outside translator's material of internal use and/or of general nature for accuracy of content, terminology, grammar and spelling, etc.


• Good knowledge of the products and services offered by the Bank and its subsidiaries and of their nature of the business as well as of the lexicon of each.


• Ability to perform duties efficiently with minimum supervision and to establish priorities.


• Ability to work under pressure and meet severe deadlines.


• Ability to communicate with internal customers of other departments and subsidiaries, when needed.


• Working knowledge of pertinent software used by the HBCA and of a translation memory tool.


• Willing to work during Canadian hours, likely Sat-Sun off.


• CVs must be submitted in both French and English languages

What additional skills will be good to have?
* Canadian French language is preferred
* French Translation experience is required
* Certificate or Bachelor specialized in French translation is required
* Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
