BUSINESS TITLE: Downstream Marketing Leader Africa


LOCATION: South Africa or Egypt **



MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Responsible to lead a team to execute and implement all marketing activities,
including marketing strategies, market development projects, product/portfolio
plans, and launch activities in Africa region. Your team will support the
Country/Cluster/Business Leaders and their teams in executing and implementing
innovative projects for meeting financial objectives of sales, market share,
and profitability.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to Vice President, CEMA Strategic Marketing Enterprise
(SME) , the job holder will manage the execution of aligned marketing & market
development strategies in the region to ensure competitive advantage. Your
responsibility will require travels to the countries within the region with a
rate of up to ‎70% of the time.
In close collaboration with other enablers and functions, Downstream Marketing
Lead plays a key role in executing the strategies, a success by creating a
tailored approach that reflects the dynamics of the portfolios and therapies
in the region, while maintaining budgetary stewardship and a close eye on
profitability and gain in market share.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

* As a leader in the Downstream Marketing & Market Development organization, supporting and leading a team to foster and advance best practice marketing & market development within AFRICA marketing organization with the purpose of driving sustainable growth and patient benefit
* Directs the implementation and execution of AFRICA marketing strategies for specific portfolios and therapies by prioritization frameworks (Country segmentation and APM - Active Portfolio Management).
* Identifies unmet customer requirements and new business opportunities and provides vision, focus, and input to AFRICA SME teams and Regional Leadership Team.
* Drive product and therapy marketing plans, including segmentation, competitive strategy, selling strategies, advertising with core brand equity, and promotional program development with a metrics-based approach to measuring the effectiveness of marketing tactics to drive plan refinement
* Work with regional sales teams to develop commercial plans and launch plans in conjunction and in consultation with branding, training & operations that meets or exceeds customer expectations
* Determines the profitability and viability of new products or product enhancements and feeds CEMA Upstream Marketing Team.
* Track competitive activities, proactively develop key marketing campaigns and work closely with portfolio/therapy marketing team members to understand changing market dynamics
* Identify and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, professional associations, and advisory boards and create annual marketing communications accordingly
* Facilitates and coordinates marketing activities within geographic areas to increase teamwork and build partnerships
* Leads and coordinates best-in-class product launches and product positioning activities.
* Interacts directly with CEMA Upstream Marketing Leads to identify new marketing and therapy development opportunities, product positioning, messaging, and forecasting for new product opportunities
* Provide strategic planning support to AFRICA commercial, enabler and functional leaders including maintenance of Marketing & Market Development related execution templates and framework/dashboard
* Manage and develop a direct staff, attract top talent and provide professional development opportunities to staff
* Lead and mentor the team to work with salesforce to create demand, enable sales, increase awareness and drive market share for assigned product responsibilities
* Create pricing strategies with the team by analyzing competitive products and market needs.
* Partner with the HCP ER team to design, develop, and implement programs including surgeon visitations, cases observations, and other solutions that enhance training and education
* Responsibilities may also include coordinating trade show activities, website development, executing e-commerce and digital marketing strategies, and tracking marketing campaigns to evaluate results and provide recommendations for future marketing promotions.

This role will lead all downstream marketing teams in the region and work very
closely with other SME functions (HCP ER, Commercial Analytics & Excellence,
Strategic Marketing Operation), commercial teams, key enablers (SSA, VES,
SPPS), and key transversal support functions (such as Regulatory, Pricing,
etc.) to drive MDT AFRICA transformation towards comprehensive solutions in
order to achieve the standard of care in our disease and condition focus
areas.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
* ‎10+ years combined experience in two or more of the following functions within the Healthcare industry (Med Device strongly preferred): Market/Business Development, Strategic/General Marketing, Downstream Marketing, Strategy & Portfolio Management, General Management, Project Management
* ‎5+ years of marketing experience required as a Manager / sr. manager level
* University degree in healthcare, business management or Marketing is a must
* Experience managing a direct report staff, as well as significant management experience in a highly matrixed organization.
* Successful development and delivery of high-impact strategic initiatives.
* Highly motivated to advance organizational expertise in marketing & market development, process, methods, tools, and best practices
* Very high critical thinking skills and synthesis skills (can create structure, form, systems)
* Strong quantitative skills - can translate data, info, and ideas into useful analysis & insight
* Cross-functionally influence, ability to lead with and without authority, possess the knowledge, skills, ability, and credibility to system engineer a large and critical project with multiple stakeholders and matrixed participants
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, negotiating; managing change; goal setting; planning and organizing teamwork; ability to address difficult situations; able to understand and communicate technical information.
* Experience in implementing innovative channels such as Digital and omnichannel.
* Self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision.
