POSITION DESCRIPTION
Amideast Egypt seeks a STEM Talk Podcast Host. Sponsored by Boeing, Amideast
's STEM Talks primarily aim to raise awareness and appreciation for STEM as it
relates to issues of sustainability by demonstrating existing efforts to
develop sustainable solutions to global challenges. They represent a
significant component of the outreach effort to make STEM topics accessible
and interesting to educators, parents and learners of all ages, increase
awareness of how STEM and sustainability can solve real-world challenges, and
inspire attendees to learn more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to,
the following:
* Research and develop engaging content for each episode of the podcast, in alignment with the show's format, episode title, and target audience.
* Interview guests who have expertise in STEM and Sustainability fields.
* Create podcast format that will appeal to listeners and keep them engaged.
* Prepare for each episode by researching topics or contacting guests.
* Write and record a script for each episode, including intro and outro segments, as well as any other necessary copy.
* Book and interview guests for each episode, conducting pre-interview research to ensure a smooth and informative conversation.
* Host each episode live, keeping the conversation on track and within the allotted time frame
* Monitor listener feedback and use it to inform future content decisions.
* Stay up to date on industry news and trends, incorporating relevant information into episodes as needed.
* Collaborate with the team to brainstorm new ideas and formats for the show.
* Manage all aspects of show production, from scheduling to post-episode analysis.
* Perform any other duties as assigned.
Deliverables:
* Assistance in identifying themes and topics for the STEM Talks
* Assistance in identifying and communicating with relevant guest speakers
* Research of guest speaker's background and area(s) of expertise
* Interview questions preparation
* Recorded interview with guest speakers
* Development of Talk description for all podcast STEM Talks
* Content for each episode.
* Interview questions for the podcast guests.
* Podcast format.
* Written script for each episode including intro and outro segments.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
* Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or STEM/Sustainability related field
* ‎3-‎5 years professional experience as a journalist, writer, or editor (preferred)
* Exceptional research, interviewing, and storytelling skills
* Strong on-camera presence and public speaking ability
* Experience hosting a podcast or radio show (preferred)
