Qualification :
School & Graduation - Technical School Graduate or Trade test
Experience :
3 - 5 yrs.
Role Purpose:
To operate and monitor Seawater utility equipment, seawater supply to the
different shops in order to support the achievement of uninterrupted seawater
supply to the production process.
Key Accountabilities
1.
Operate and monitor Seawater Stations, equipment and /or processes in order to
ensure that plant and processes are operating within set parameters.
2.
Take and record readings of running equipment and daily operating conditions,
perform standard data analysis and record all data in specified log sheets
according to set parameters.
3.
Identify and report immediately any problem, discrepancy or abnormality in
equipment or process, taking prompt corrective action as appropriate
4.
Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment
in order to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimized
5.
Carry out routine, on the job equipment maintenance and minor repair and
identify and communicate other maintenance / repair needs to the Senior
Technician or Shift Supervisor for onward communication to the Maintenance
Department.
6.
Ensure all operating, safety, environment and quality procedures are followed
in order to ensure the highest standards of operation and to support the
achievement of continuous uninterrupted seawater utility supply
7.
Ensure emergency and standby equipment is regularly checked, run and
maintained in order to ensure it is kept in good working order at all times
8.
Communicate clearly with Operator
on the next shift about current plant / equipment operation and conditions and
hand over the shift and equipment with full and clear information
9.
In case of emergency, the designated Operator has to take all necessary
countermeasures and inform the Senior Technician
as laid down in the operating procedures in order to ensure that any risk to
personnel, plant or process operation are minimized
10.
Actively participate in any of the Company improvement activities and actively
seek opportunities for improvement in plant, equipment and processes in order
to support the ongoing achievement of the highest operating standards
11.
Maintain equipment and area cleaned.
12.
Conduct periodic inspection of the conditions of expansion bellows and
recording.
13.
Assist the Senior Technicians for periodic inspection of all seawater piping
network in the Qatar Steel and recording its condition.
14.
Inspect gland packing conditions of pumps and replacement to be done and
replacing worn out ones.
quaLIFICATIONS, Experience & SKILLS
§
Technical School Graduate or Trade test certification from a recognised
professional body
§
3-5 years experience in Utilities plant and process operation; QATAR STEEL
Level 1 Operator experience preferred
§
Specialist skills and knowledge in Seawater area plus general
knowledge and understanding whole Section
§
Full understanding of plant and process specifications and parameters
§
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of safety, environment and quality
procedures and standards
