Basic Functions
Subject matter expert in Aviation Flight Operations management specific to US
Army aviation platforms in both a training and operational environment.
Oversees the daily operational activities in support of all operations of
Customer Rotary Wing Operations. Oversees flight operations and support
activities to ensure safe and effective training and operations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
* Duties/responsibilities: Responsible for the management and execution of all functions, activities, and operational procedures in support of Customer rotary wing operations. Responsible for supporting the safe operation, employment, maintenance, and flight procedures of MD500 Series rotary wing aircraft.
* Oversees and documents the inspection of the airfield for compliance with applicable directives, areas requiring repair or maintenance, and potential situations or problems affecting safe flight operations.
* Monitors the execution of guidelines and standards for airfield and flight operations.
* Supervises the management all flight planning, filing, and related activities in support of Customer and contractor training, operational and maintenance operations.
* Assist the Aviation and Operations Division Manager in the development and formulation of advanced planning, coordinating, monitoring and implementation of policy, procedures and directives associated with rotary wing operational and training requirements.
* Inspects and/or checks condition of runways, taxiways, and aprons for flying safety hazards to include compliance with airfield criteria, aircraft foreign object damage and bird aircraft strike hazards
* Maintains documentation of shift events, traffic logs, and other necessary forms to document coordination of airfield/aircraft activities.
* Under the direction of the Aviation Training and Support Manager, coordinate the overall aviation support elements of the Airfield Operations organization
* Provide technical expertise during complex deployments and exercises.
* Respond to and manage airfield aircraft emergency and accidents/incidents.
* Supervises the management of flight plans, ATC flight support, hazard map, FLIP ordering and distribution, clearances, weather support, and Individual Flight Record Folders.
* Oversee and manage Downed Aircraft Recovery Missions.
* Supervises and conducts OJT of customer designated personnel in Flight Operations procedures.
* Ensure flight crews have flight planning requirements as needed.
* Manage and produce NOTAMs as required.
* Ensure that all aviation flight operations support is provided in a timely manner.

B. Independence: Reports to the Aviation Training and Support Manager. Works
within the rules and regulations of Army aviation operation guidelines.
Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of
duties and responsibilities.
C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for the management, training,
evaluation, and advancement process for assigned flight operations support
staff.* *The flight operations support staff will be comprised of the
flight operations shift leads and flight operations specialists.

Minimum Qualifications
* Education Level: Bachelor's degree required. Graduate of the US Army Flight Operations Specialist Senior Leadership Course (15P, or DoD equivalent) -required.
* Experience: ‎15 years experiences in Aviation Operations required. Five years minimum experience as a Senior Flight Operations Manager desired. Former SGM, MSG, or SFC preferred. Aviation Operations or Airfield Manager experience within the last ‎5-years preferred.
C. Specific knowledge, skill, and ability requirements: Must possess an
understanding of Aviation Operations Management specific to rotary wing
aircraft. Demonstrated performance in the management of Aviation Operations
activities from previous job positions. A working knowledge of the employment
of weather and ATC support in airfield operations. Ability to communicate
effectively both orally and written. Ability to deal effectively with people
in the supervision of staff. Ability to effectively communicate with the
customer in a professional and courteous manner. Possess a valid driver's
license.
