Basic Functions
Functions as the Aviation Support Battalion (ASB) Machinist under the
direction of ASB Backshop Lead and Production Control Manager. Performs duties
as a machinist operating and maintaining lathes, milling machines and other
associated equipment. Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints and samples
ensuring accurate production of tools and parts required for aircraft
maintenance. Provides technical direction and training to Ministry of National
Guard Soldiers, as needed. Ensures maintenance operations are conducted IAW
safety regulations and directives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
A. Duties/responsibilities:

‎1. Ensures that fabrication activities and procedures among designated
organizations are completed IAW contractual requirements.
‎2. Establishes daily maintenance goals and objectives in coordination with
backshops lead and PC.
‎3. Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and
standards.
‎4. Uses common measuring tools, measuring gages, and alignment fixtures.
‎5. Ensures all related maintenance operations are conducted IAW safety
regulations and directives.
‎6. Provides technical direction and training to Ministry of National Guard
Soldiers.
‎7. Other tasks as directed by the first line supervisor or higher.

B. Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities under
the direction and supervision of the backshops section lead or PC supervisors.

C. Supervisory Responsibilities: As directed by the first line supervisor or
higher.

Minimum Qualifications
A. Education Level:

‎1. Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
‎2. Preferred: Advanced degree or equivalent.

B. Training Certifications:

‎1. Required: Graduate of a US Military machinist course or civilian
equivalent training.
‎2. Preferred: Graduate of a US Military machinist course or civilian
equivalent training and certified in aviation welding.

C. Experience:

‎1. Required: A minimum of five years machinist experience with aluminum,
steel, and stainless steel.
‎2. Preferred: A minimum of ten years machinist experience with aluminum,
steel, and stainless steel in the aviation maintenance field.

D. Specific knowledge, skills, ability:

‎1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
‎2. Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals,
aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.
‎3. Proficient in MS Office software.
‎4. Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
‎5. Effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous
manner.
‎6. Possess a valid issued driver's license.
‎7. Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
