JOB DESCRIPTION
KAPSARC seeks to recruit a Fellow to join its Energy Macro & Microeconomics
Program to produce innovative, policy-oriented research studies and to provide
analytical support to advisory services that entertain requests of the
domestic energy ecosystem. The role involves, among other duties, carrying out
studies related to energy economics and macroeconomics, developing economic
and market models, with a particular focus on the role of the energy sector in
the transformation of the Saudi economy. The candidate should be interested in
evaluating and analyzing the macroeconomic impacts of policies such as local
content regulations, energy transition goals, or diversification. Strong
analytical and modeling skills, intellectual versatility, and the ability to
work on various economic topics are required.
The successful candidate will contribute to KAPSARC's objective of developing
high-quality and actionable policy options informed by research. They will
also contribute to KAPSARC's Consulting and Advisory Services. KAPSARC's
efforts involve a mix of analytical, policy-oriented work products, conducted
in a multicultural environment by a team of experienced economists. The
candidate will also be strongly encouraged to publish the outcomes of the
applied research projects in peer-reviewed journals.
Responsibilities:
Qualifications and Experience :
* Ph.D. degree in the field of macroeconomics or energy economics
* Minimum of 10 years of experience after PhD in energy-economic applied research: academia, consulting, government, private sector, international organization
* Proven analytical capability to understand and develop economic analyses or models used for policymaking. Technical skills in DSGE modeling would be highly appreciated
* Track record of journal publications
* Strong experience in developing evidence-based public policy
* Experience in advisory and consulting
* Ability to communicate research insights to technical and non-technical audiences
* Team-player mindset, and excellent time management and problem-solving skills
