Your field of responsibility


This role will be based in Riyadh or Doha, reporting to the IT Head for Saudi
Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar.
Credit Suisse Saudi Arabia hosts the only GM Equities platform in the region
and is responsible for executing client orders on the Tadawul (Saudi) Stock
Exchange.
The Equities Business in Riyadh rely on various technologies to generate,
accept, execute and settle orders from international clients, across several
order types. In addition to local OMS and high frequency execution platforms,
algorithmic trading, program trading and prime swap applications are used to
satisfy client requirements. Direct Market Access is also facilitated using
firmwide client connectivity solutions that interface with local platforms.
The platforms that support the above are spread across the U.S., U.K. and
Saudi Arabia, with specialist teams providing L2-‎3 coverage. The Equities IT
team in Saudi provides L0-‎1 coverage of these platforms and L1-‎3 coverage of
the numerous platforms located on the ground in Riyadh.
This role will head up the local team and face off to business users, dealing
with incidents and issues that arise in their time critical business. Suitable
candidate must understand the order/execution cycle and coordinate with the
team to resolve outages that prevent trading to take place unabated. The
candidate will manage incidents, liaise with L2/L3 technology teams for non-
local applications and own the effort to restore and recover from incidents.
They will also take full responsibility of remediating problems with local
platforms, work various departments to quickly implement workarounds and see
that problems are properly managed through to resolution.
Aside from the technical aspect, work is also dedicated to responding to
Exchange related queries, working with our Operations and Compliance
departments and helping to remediate data quality issues that present, due to
unexpected outages or incidents.
The role also has an important secondary component to it in the form helping
to provide Business Analysis/design contribution to changes to local
platforms. These could be due to new business requirements to enhance our
capabilities and client offerings, but also to help make the platform and its
many interfaces more robust and efficient. Much of the time, changes are
instigated due to large scale transformations being driven by Tadawul or the
Regulator.
Risk Management is a key component of every role at Credit Suisse, and this
role will help identify, assess, register and remediate IT risks, working
closely with the CISO organization. Fielding Internal and External Audits in
respect to technical queries on the platform is also a mainstay of the role,
as is responding to regulatory assessments and making sure gaps to changing
regulation are identified and addressed. The technicalities of reviewing the
application dependencies and working with software developers to remediate
vulnerabilities is crucial to all the above.

You will become part of the Saudi IT Trading Technologies team which is a
group of highly skilled analysts focused on providing a high level of care to
ensure our business capabilities of sales and trading workflow, remain
available and efficient. The team is responsible for both supporting and
maintaining the platforms and specifying changes and drafting change
requirements to make large impacting changes and transformations.
The team comprises of SME's on the technology platforms as well as those with
an acute understanding of business flows. A local infrastructure team works
closely with the team to attend to problems related to hardware, networks,
storage and server components.
The team while facing off to the local business, work closely with
International teams responsible for corporate trading technologies used by the
Saudi Business, but located offshore. A constant communication channel is kept
open with these teams so that together, resolutions to trade flow issues can
be identified and resolved quickly to minimize impact to our business and our
clients.


Your skills and experience
Business Process Awareness
* Experience working with Enterprise class OMS, PMS, Booking and reconciliation platforms
* Astute ability to diagnose trade flow problems, with an understanding of the order lifecycle and the subsystems used for different types of orders
* Strong diagnostic capabilities using FIX message logs, database queries and trade blotters to identify contention or problem areas
* Awareness of static and dynamic market data flows and their impact on the trading platforms and individual order problems
Technical Expertise
* Experience working with distributed trading technologies and interfaces
* FIX protocol and key message types
* STP processing and DMA behavior awareness, and some experience on algo platforms that helps to appreciate impact on local execution systems and exchange behavior
* Ability to query trading platform databases to assist with diagnosis of issues and generate ad-hoc reports
* Understanding of runtime data persistence to help identify resolutions to issues and incidents
* A good grasp of java based trading engines and microservices architecture
Technology Exposure
* Solid SQL skills, working with Oracle databases
* A reasonable understanding of the Linux OS to be able to explore and restart processes and read logs
* Knowledge of the front-to-back trading architecture and interconnects would be desirable
* Exposure to industry leading OMS technologies and Position Keeping platforms
Incident Management
* Strong incident management experience, ability to quickly establish current status, identify stakeholders and engage with other teams in a logical and concise manner so as to find workarounds and/or resolutions to incidents
* Understand the escalation process and matrix, and the awareness and maturity to invoke it as needed
* Issue detailed post-mortem reports following incidents, and liaise with other functions to prepare regulatory incident submissions, and update knowledge bases and Trouble Tracking platforms with information that can be used as reference for future incidents of a similar nature
Change Management
* Ability to discuss changes with the Business, understand business requirements or solicit assistance from BA teams to help articulate changes so that technical specifications can be determined and issued
* Work with other technology providers within the Firm or vendor development firms to agree changes and project timescales and costs
* Solicit sign-off for changes and produce detailed implementation plans
* Produce test plans and scripts as needed to ensure an appropriate testing regime is applied for all changes
* Keep abreast of regulatory and Exchange driven changes and plan accordingly to avoid any conflicts.
* Report on project status, identify risks and issues and seek decisions on approaches to problems encountered
Personal & Soft Skills
* Work closely with other local functions and raise issues and concerns with colleagues located where required across the CS group, in different locations, time zones and departments.
* Coordinated, cool headed and logical approach to problem solving and incident management.
* Ability to delegate and trust team members and offer support where required.
Your Profile
* ‎3-‎5 years exposure within an IB/Trading environment
* Trading Application Support, Application Development or Trading technology engineering background and be comfortable with dealing with senior business users.
* Highly flexible, triple-hatted approach to dealing with varied business and technical topics.
* Fluent in English
