Job Description:
What you 'll do as an IT specialist:
You will be the initial point of contact for the Customer and End User to
discuss incidents, problems, technical queries and potential equipment faults
* Apply your knowledge of IT systems to diagnose and resolve arising issues of IT hardware and software components. Identify potential maintenance issues with the project IT hardware and software that could disrupt operational availability, propose solutions and communicate to stakeholders in a timely manner.
* Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with all operations staff, and provide an effective interface with the Customer and Industry Partners. As well as maintaining close working relationship with Leonardo UK support engineers to ensure sharing of best practice for the maintenance and support of the project networks.
* Identify and report risks and opportunities to Leonardo and BAES on EWC operations and support to subsequent activities. As well as recommending improvements to all systems, identify all best practices, and assist to improve all processes.
* Mentor and transfer knowledge to new Field Service Representatives and End User personnel
You will ensure adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements.
* Support project IT hardware and software ensuring that all documentation is completed to the satisfaction of project stakeholders. Providing subject matter expertise for managing all systems efficiently.
* Analyse performance and assist to resolve all issues and ensure optimal quality of services. Implement all new system deployments and UK engineering changes. Analyse all infrastructures, monitor all applications as per standards, and optimize efficient working of all servers according to performance standards.
* Creating and maintaining all necessary engineering logs to capture all routine and non-routine project and toolset maintenance activities.

* Coordinate with all database and system administrators to design and maintain system infrastructure and assist to recover all systems in case of any failure.
* Maintain and monitor key performance indicators affecting the service and either mitigate or escalate without incident
You will support the generation and resolution of Faulty Equipment Forms (FEF)
and Technical Query Forms (TQF)
* Raise and monitor Faulty Equipment forms and ensure that failed hardware enters the repair loop in a timely fashion. Report fault and failure metrics to the Technical Support Manager for inclusion in the Service Level Agreements metrics.
* Support UK investigation into Technical Queries by performing additional investigations as required and ensuring a stable system configuration is maintained to enable a structured approach to diagnosis and repair of any faults.
What we need from you:
You really must have experience in the following:
* Installation and maintenance of various legacy Windows operating systems including Windows Server.
* SAN Storage and Clustered Server Infrastructure
* Administration of IT systems ' backup and recovery
* VMWare, physical hosts, network switches etc
* Maintaining various Windows Domain Services e.g. DNS, DHCP, WDS, WSUS, Exchange and SQL Server (not exhaustive)
* Some experience deploying client applications via app virtualisation platforms such as VMWare Horizons, Citrix
* Networking fundamentals including some or all of the following; IPv4, ‎6, VLSM, VLANS, switching and routing, network security
You really must have the following skills:
* Self-motivated with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and decision making, able to work unsupervised using your own initiative
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills across internal/external stakeholders at varying levels
* Good written and verbal presentation ability
* Flexible approach to working environment with the ability to work well in a team
It would be nice if you had:
* Knowledge of middle eastern culture and/or military working environment
* Formal IT qualifications up to BSc level (exceptions will be made for the right candidate with suitable and relevant experience)
* Familiarisation with Leonardo EWOS capabilities for the Tornado aircraft
