Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Horticulture Inspector to
join our team!
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under general supervision, performs difficult and sometimes complex inspection
tasks. Inspects various facets of work on the jobsite and performs continuous
surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all
applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Documents nonconformance and
may participate in determining appropriate resolution. Inspection activities
are usually concentrated in one of the following areas: soils, concrete,
asphalt, utilities, architectural, mechanical, or electrical. Willingness to
travel and/or to relocate to field sites is expected. Performs work in safe
manner and is cognizant of public safety.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with
contract specifications and may include any of the following:
* Assist with landscape maintenance, restoration, and design
* Install and cultivate functional and ornamental plants
* Transplant and prune shrubs and small trees
* Weed landscape beds and assist with mulching
* Identify and treat potential pests or diseases
* Provide plant care advice to other team members and clients
Horticulture Inspector Requirements and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in horticulture or a related field (or associate degree and equivalent experience)
* Experience in landscaping or working with various types of plants (5-7 years preferred) on field projects.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly
familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of
assignment. Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to
communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written
instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs.
Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering
calculations, graphs and charts. Proficiency with basic computer usage,
Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines
(like Google or equivalent). Ability to comply with multitude of requirements
as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards. Must have
thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay
estimates and extra work bills. Must be able to recognize hazardous work
conditions and take action if necessary. Ability to use good judgment and work
with others is required. Requires ability to climb ladders, inspect work above
ground, and work in confined spaces. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
(i.e. lifting materials used for testing of concrete, AC, etc.).
