Job Summary.
The international buyer/planner is a part of the NOV Brandt production team
that is committed to meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of our
customers. The outside operations coordinator is responsible for establishing
practical and economic methods of purchasing and sourcing manufacturing
materials. A good working knowledge of Supply Chain functions would be a
benefit along with the working knowledge of JDE.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assure that qualified materials with proper specifications are ordered (as per the approved supplier list)
* Arrange transportation from product origin (supplier or internal satellite/hub warehouse) to destination (satellite/hub warehouse)
* Ensure that orders are delivered in an on-time manner, by coordination with supplier, logistics, and receiving warehouse (receipt of goods into JDE)
* Negotiate supplier terms, conditions and pricing
* Attain the best value in terms of quality, cost and service
* Forecast product usage based on history of consumption/usage and direction from operations
* Report key procurement metrics; maintain accurate record keeping including price, lead time, and supplier histories
* Maintain good working relationships with suppliers and other departments
* Work with all departments, as well as with suppliers, in resolving problems
* Explore alternative sources for new purchased products and evaluate supplier performance
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist Production Control/Purchasing Manager and Assistant Buyer with routine/day to day activities and special projects as required
* Assist in keeping purchasing files, logs, records, reports and correspondence up to date and organized
* Additional duties as assigned by direct manager
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILL-SET REQUIRED:
Essential:
* 1-2 yrs experience in purchasing and sourcing manufacturing materials
* Excellent PC skills using MS Office, Outlook and JDE
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to work well with customers (field operations) and suppliers
* Ability to work in a multi-task, high paced environment, be self-directed and be able to prioritize responsibilities, coordinate on-going projects, provide precise attention to detail and coordinate efforts of the operation with management staff
* Ability to work independently to achieve set goals
