This Opportunity

The Air Traffic Control Shift Lead is assigned by and responsible to the
facility chief for the efficiency of facility operations in accordance with
applicable regulations. The Shift Leader ensures the safe, orderly, and
expeditious flow of air traffic in the assigned airspace or airport and
assists aircraft in distress or emergency situations.

Your Impact

• Assign and direct all phases of the subordinate's work.


• Assist and advise controllers during emergencies or distress situations.


• Ensure personnel receive on-the-job training (OJT) and conducts assessments of training though the administration of controller evaluations.


• Conduct position qualification evaluations when directed by the facility chief or training supervisor.


• Notify search and rescue facilities of aircraft in distress and provides assistance and advice.


• Evaluate the operational effectiveness of facility systems, subsystems, and equipment. Records and reports outages and take action to correct discrepancies.


• Coordinate with other controllers, facilities, and agencies to provide prompt ATC services.


• Maintain facility logs and recordings.


• Follow FAA, ICAO, DOD, and host nation aviation regulations and procedures.


• Complete annual weather training to take and disseminate supplemental weather observations.


• Delegate responsibility to subordinates and assists the training supervisor.


• Perform other qualified duties as assigned by the training supervisor, facility chief or air traffic

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Graduate of a US military air traffic control school or FAA Academy.
* Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) certificate.
* FAA Control Tower Operator Certificate of CTO Certificate of Grades.
* Military MOS Army 15Q training preferred.
* Five (‎5) or more years of commercial and / or military experience in air traffic services.
* Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
* Ability to pass Class IV Army flight physical.
* Ability to work night and day shift in austere environment.
* Some heavy lifting may be required.
* Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
* Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
* Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
