The VSAT Technician is a mid-entry level field Technician position in which
the level of knowledge and experience will provide a technician capable of
working on the majority of installations and services with occasional
assistance from onshore support. The Level 2 Technician is to manage the site
installation or fault restoration; either alone or as a lead of junior L1
technicians, within a scope of work defined by Project or Operations
management to a successful conclusion proactively resolving situational
problems across the range of RigNet services. The level 2 Technician will have
good practical knowledge of RigNet core services and technologies with site-
related manufacturer equipment encompassing managed service, marine & land
satellite services; and of regionally variant services including LTE, fixed &
stabilized LOS radio, and associated Rig Telecommunications systems; a
practical understanding of CE IP Network service with the ability to complete
minor work independently and work under instruction for more advanced
requirements. The Level 2 technician will be expected to advance through
independent study of technical materials and company supplied in house
training courses.
The Technician will ensure that RigNet: documentation, process, compliance,
QHSE, training & company values are the foremost of all work undertaken.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Installation, commissioning & fault diagnostics of GEO VSAT fixed single and dual Antenna Systems.
* Installation, commissioning & fault diagnostics of GEO VSAT stabilized single - Seatel or Intellian & Orbit product range.
* Commissioning & fault diagnosis of single & multiple carrier services on the above systems related to specific manufacturer Satellite access technologies for SCPC, IDirect, CnC
* Installation commissioning of HTS VSAT systems such as GX
* Installation, basic troubleshooting & configuration of RigNet managed Network Lan infrastructure on site.
* Installation, commissioning, and fault diagnostics of Out of Band system.
* Complies with all RigNet, customer and regional compliance, HS&E and QA policies and regulations.
* Maintains all requested RigNet documentation and reporting procedures
* Completes RigNet-associated technical training to within acceptable levels
Requirements:
o University Bachelor Degree or College Associate Degree in Electrical /
Communications / Computer discipline or equivalent experience
o Company apprenticeship or vocational training as part of a structured
training program within similar technology company profile.
o Experience of 1-2 years recognized industry experience with demonstrated
success at the level.
o Specific manufacturer training or recognized RigNet technology training (
GVF & Cisco Network eg ICND1 , Stabilised terminal & satellite access
technology certifications).
o PC literate - Windows Applications etc
o Skilled Electrical installation of infrastructure including rack, junction
boxes, cables ( coax, Ethernet, fiber, signal & electrical) including
termination of all connectors to within manufacturer specifications
o Competent use of associated installation and test equipment ( spectrum
analyzer, power meter, DVM, etc ).
o Fluent English is written and spoken preferred.
o Effective communication to line manager, Project manager ( external &
internal ) and client stakeholders
o Structured problem-solving abilities in a pressured environment
o Valid Drivers license for the country (Saudi) you are working in
o Valid work permit or transferrable visa for the country (Saudi) you are
expected to working in
