Summary
We're looking for a dynamic Learning Support Assistant, who will be primarily
responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with the implementation of
delivering lessons to high school SEN students.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to:
* Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)
* Help teachers plan learning activities and develop classroom materials following school procedures and policies
* Assist the teacher in the delivery of lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum for students
* Demonstrate creativity
* Provide targeted support outside of the classroom
* Work on differentiated activities with groups of students
* Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion manager to deliver SEN provision
* Develop social/emotional skills (depending on individual need)
* Work with teachers to monitor progress of students
* Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times
* Respond appropriately to the range of individuals needs and abilities within the class
* Supporting SEN students with their educational and personal development in a mainstream setting
* Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with barriers to learning, including those with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), dyslexia, dyspraxia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
* Assisting teachers in the preparation of learning materials and resources, including visual aids, audio resources, and ICT equipment
* Helping to maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students, including those with diverse learning needs
* Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans for students with specific learning needs
* Encouraging and promoting independence and self-esteem among all students receiving support
* Be flexible and adaptable to changes with regards to distance learning if necessary
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
* University degree in the subject area of employment (Master's degree preferred)
* Previous knowledge of being a SENCO preferred
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience:
* Prior experience working with students who need additional support
* Experience with G Suite/Microsoft Office
Skills:
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
* Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues
* Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings
* Ability to work independently and within a team
