Role Purpose :
The jobholder is part of the Special Credit Unit (SCU) function and reports
into HBEG Head of Wholesale Risk.
The jobholder is responsible for the management of a set of clients, devising
a strategy towards recovery of dues/mitigation of risks and Workout
propositions whilst maintaining HSBC Global Standards.
The jobholder is accountable for delivery of various activities including -
* Managing a portfolio of high risk customers falling with scope of Special Credit Unit
* Managing and Leading SCU managers towards delivery of the unit objectives.
* Leading the discussions towards de-risking high risk exposures and managing the workout plans with problematic relations.
* Managing the credit application process including, preparation of credit applications based on analysis of financial reports, projected cash flows, and other data sources / market intelligence,
* Resolving credit related issues/operational issues and ensuring the delivery of realistic action plans for debt recovery and follow-up settlement plans with customers to ensure their alignment with agreed terms.
* To manage the SCU portfolio with the objective to align with AOP targets for provisions and recoveries.
* Contribute in monitoring, informing/recommending actions to WCR Approval team and direct manager on potential problematic customer relationships, based on WWM customer list and exception reports.
* Liaising with various stakeholders (including clients) for timely facilitation/execution of loan and security documents, and provision of relevant documentation to safeguard the banks interests (financial statements, legal documentation, asset valuations…. etc)
* Liaising with Service Delivery, Regulatory Compliance and other Risk functions as required,
* Implementation of IFRS ‎9 requirements in relation to the SCU portfolio
* Keeping an adequate oversight over the bank Stage ‎3 ECLs and related suspense/memorandum accounts
* Managing and coordinating any discussions with the CBE on strategy and workout plans with stage ‎3 relationships .
The jobholder is responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of credit
submissions. The jobholder is also responsible for consistent execution of
controls for effective risk management from a legal, compliance, operational
and reputational perspective.
The jobholder will operate within the Bank's risk appetite and is responsible
for ensuring that organizational standards are maintained and that the Bank's
policies and procedures are adhered to in order to achieve recovery targets
and mitigate risks.
Management of Risk :
* The jobholder will ensure that customers are treated fairly and with integrity.
* The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role.
* Protect sensitive customer and bank information by ensuring documents, computers, files, and all confidential matters are appropriately handled as set forth by policy.
* Ensure all relevant documentation is appropriately completed, approved and stored to provide performance tracking, targeted future compliance
Requirements
Qualifications :
* Prior experience in a similar role and/or relationship manager/credit approval role (‎7 -‎10 years)
* Strong accounting background, analytical skills and familiarity with Corporate banking products, local legal and regulatory frameworks.
* Background in accounting and financial/credit analysis.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis on influencing and negotiating with customers and colleagues
* Ability to effectively plan/organize and priorities activities
* Commercial acumen and problem solving ability
* Strong leadership skills and proven experience working with auditors, regulators and compliance.
* Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and senior leaders.
* Excellent knowledge of other Risk areas, including operational, including operational, small business and macroeconomics.
* Proven track record in handling complex transactions and management of high risk exposures
* Effective written and spoken communication skills in English
* Strong Knowledge and understanding of all regulatory requirements related to lending and classification of exposures
* Strong knowledge of IFRS9 standards and accounting treatment of S3 relations .
* Successful completion of in-house Credit Course or similar training.
* Graduated in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or applicable.
