ABOUT THE ROLE
A Security Officer is responsible for the day to day implementation of all
security procedures at DHL premises, to ensure a secure and safe workplace for
DHL staff and visitors and the protection of DHL, client and visitors
equipment and belongings.

YOUR TASKS
* Act as an ambassador for DHL at all times and attend to customer needs in a professional, friendly and courteous manner
* Ensure that a high level of professional rapport is developed and maintained with all customers
* Follow up on all customer enquiries and direct customer to the correct DHL department where further information is required
* Receive, process and record all visitors to the site(s) and advise them of the location of their meeting
* Man the duty post(s) as designated by the manager, ensuring the relevant security procedures are followed
* Ensure access to area of responsibility is controlled in accordance with security procedures and that visitors and staff display the correct passes
* Take the necessary corrective action against unauthorized visitors
* Check personal effects, bags Etc. coming in and going out of the site
* Check that anything being removed from the premises by contractors has been approved by the manager responsible
* Check the documentation of all DHL / contracted vehicles entering and leaving the premises and ensure those leaving are covered by a manifest or customs release certificate. All vehicles leaving the airside facility are sealed by customs officers
* Maintain Security records
* Report any incidents of lost property to the security manager
* Ensure vehicles are parked appropriately in allocated parking areas
* Patrol all areas during off-peak hours and ensure all areas are secure and that energy is being conserved
* Ensure all external doors and windows are secured
* Report immediately, any hazard that might potentially cause damage or any part of the building that requires maintenance
* Know where fire equipment is located, the fire drill and how to manage a fire in line with fire warden training
* Apply first aid when required. Know where the first aid kits are located
YOUR PROFILE

To be a successful Security Officer, you should possess the following:
* Good understanding of DHL Network
* Excellent personal presentation, grooming and hygiene
* Demonstrated ability to use initiative/judgement to solve job related issues
* Previous experience in the Army, Airport Security or Police Force is desired
* Used to working with the general public
* Demonstrate quick assessment and appropriate resolution of incidents
* Good computer skills
* Able to work with minimum supervision
* Excellent verbal communication skills and interpersonal style
* Excellent organizational skills, including ability to prioritize workload
* Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, time sensitive environment
