Background
The Services and Support thematic area will focus on providing all students
with the University of Birmingham Dubai with a wide range of high quality
services and support. This will also support the University and our academic
colleagues in the delivery of our academic mission in respect of both
Education and Research including:
* Welcome and induction activities
* Careers, employability and skills support
* Programme administration support and services
* Research administration support
* Visa and immigration services
* Information advice and guidance services
* Learning an library services
* Wellbeing services
* Academic Skills support
* Support to the University of Birmingham Dubai Students' Association
* General student administration through to graduation support.
Role Summary
It is important that students have a positive and distinct experience at each
step of their university career. The post holder is therefore responsible for
supporting the delivery of student experience and wellbeing activity alongside
the wider Student Experience and Wellbeing and Student Programme
Administration Team.
The post holder will join our Student Hub Team, providing that first line of
responsive to students, parents and visitors.
Working with professional services colleagues across the University, the post
holder will support in the delivery of an annual programme of activity to
support students and enhance their experience whilst studying at the
university.
Although focusing on current students, the post holder will also provide a
supportive role working with colleagues in Student Marketing and Recruitment
and Admissions, Careers and Alumni Relations to join up activity across the
whole student journey.
Main Duties
* Working with Student Experience and Wellbeing colleagues to provide operational support in delivery of an annual programme of activities that foster an inclusive and supportive environment.
* The post holder will play a key role in the administrative support of Welcome, UoBE Festival and Graduation ceremonies as key student experience and engagement points.
* Working with Student Programme Administration team to support with processes directly related to student onboarding.
* Joining the Student Hub team responding to and triaging student, parent and visitor enquiries.
* Supporting the Student Association with administration and planning of student led events and activities, including sports activities, days celebrating diversity and student led initiatives.
* Working alongside the Student Programme and Administration team to support with the practical delivery of exams and related activities, such as scanning papers, invigilating and other duties as needed.
* Working with the Student Experience and Engagement Officer to ensure that social media channels and other marketing materials and platforms are up-to-date and suitably reflective of activities and campaigns being run.
* Supporting the Library Services and Academic Skills Team through face-to-face enquiry management and supporting with book shelving and management.
* As part of the Student Experience and Wellbeing Team to respond to student enquiries using our enquiry management system.
* Working closely with colleagues to support as needed during peak times of activity, such as during Careers Fairs and workshops and wellbeing campaigns.
General

* To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, to further the work of the wellbeing services and the development of the student experience, or the University.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience in a similar role.
* Experience of working in a higher education environment is desirable
* An understanding of foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate education and the student lifecycle
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Experience in developing web-based and social media materials is desirable
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders
* Proactive, highly motivated and well organised, with the ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workloads
* Effective team working skills
* A track record of delivering an excellent customer experience
* Excellent IT skills and an aptitude for learning new packages to support analysis, presentation and communication of information (including VLEs, social media and other digital communications)
* Willingness to work flexibly, occasionally outside of normal working hours
* Commitment to continuing professional development and training

Dimensions
