An international maritime business is looking to appoint a capable Financial
Controller to their offices in Saudi Arabia. They operate ‎12 international
offices and employ over ‎250 personnel worldwide. Due to the rapid business
growth, this has now resulted in the need for additional support within the
Finance Function in their Jeddah office.


The Financial Controller is responsible for the management and coordination of
the Jeddah back-office finance team, including the supervision of Accounts
Payable, Cash Management and Accounts Receivable. The position-holder is
ultimately responsible for maintaining and ensuring the integrity of the
accounting records for the company, as well as the accounting records of its
clients.


The ideal candidate will have a professional qualification in accounting and
finance, IFRS competency, and solid experience in a similar role.
International experience will be a definite benefit.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Co-ordination and team management:
* Overall management and supervision of ‎5 team members (‎3 direct reports) comprising Accounts Payable, Treasurer/Cashier and Accounts Receivable staff.
* Ensure adequate resources and cover are available to smoothly operate the Department.
* Allocate and monitor routine tasks and responsibilities to team members.
* Organise sufficient training for the team, including continuous professional development.
* Conduct annual internal performance appraisals for the team.


Accounts Payable:
* Oversee Accounts Payable function.
* Monitor and report creditor's ledgers.
* Oversee accuracy of invoice input.
* Ensure timely payments of suppliers in accordance with terms and conditions.
* Ensure fee payments are prioritized.
* Obtain favourable supplier terms and conditions.
* Monitor supplier risk/opportunity.
* Liaise with Procurement on Accounts Payable related issues.


Accounts Receivable:
* Oversee Accounts Receivable function.
* Review monthly billing.
* Monitor and report debtor's ledger.
* Ensure Debtors are minimized.


Cash management:
* Oversee Cash Management function.
* Monitor and report cash and bank positions.
* Review cash flow forecasts.
* Review monthly funding requests.
* Manage banking arrangements and relationships.


Payroll:
* Review monthly payroll.
* Align with signed employment contracts.
* Obtain CFO/CEO approval.
* Record payroll costs.


Monthly/annual accounts:
* Review Trial Balances.
* Revenue recognised in accordance with IFRS15.
* Prepare Accruals / Prepayments.
* Prepare IFRS16 lease accounting entries.
* Prepare Depreciation.
* Maintain fixed asset register.
* Key Balance Sheet Reconciliations.


VAT, Tax and WHT, Income Tax
* Complete monthly VAT returns.
* Complete WHT returns.
* Ensure corporate tax returns are submitted on time and tax paid.
* Input VAT and tax returns to the KSA government portal.
* Deal with any VAT and tax issues.
* Compliance with KSA regulations.


External Relationships
* Liaise with external suppliers.
* Maintain bank relationships.
* Liaise with external auditors.


Systems Administration
* Maintain chart of accounts.
* Approve vendor set-up.
* Approve customer set-up.


Systems and processes:
* Support the development of accounting IT systems.
* Document accounting policies and procedures.
* Risk analysis/insurance renewals.


Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelors or degree in accounting or other finance-related studies, business administration or economics.
* ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA(SA), AGA(SA), Chartered Financial Analyst.
* MBA, Marine and/or Yachting, UHNWI services background advantageous.
* Experience of working with high growth medium-sized successful global organisations.
* Minimum of ‎4 years' experience.

* Familiar with Saudi tax and compliance.
* IT accounting systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
* Implementing or changing processes and controls.
* Ability to work independently in order to achieve deadlines.
* Flexible and willing to support other team members.


Remuneration:
* $‎40,000 to $‎80,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.
* Discretionary bonus.
* ‎1 to ‎2 international flights per year.
* Accommodation.
