Electrical Engineer - (HVDC Experience Only)

SNC-Lavalin has an exciting full-time career opportunity for an Electrical
Engineer of ‎5 to ‎10 years' experience to build a career in the area of Power
Systems, Transmission and Distribution. The role will be based in Jeddah,
Saudi Arabia.
The candidate will work in a fast-paced consulting environment with excellent
career growth opportunities. This position reports to the Electrical team
lead.
Responsibilities
Working in collaboration with the Electrical team to prepare the following
deliverables / provide the following engineering services (non-exhaustive
list):
* Development of technical specifications for the procurement of electrical equipment (comprehensive);
* Development of conceptual and detail design of HV substations (single line diagrams, layouts, BOM, etc.);
* Conceptual and detail design of MV distribution systems and Lvac and LVdc distribution systems;
* Design of interfaces with protection and control systems, civil works, structures;
* Preparation of bid documents and bid evaluations;
* Design review of detail design performed by O.E.M. and third-party detail design;
* Ensure interdisciplinary coordination;
* Audits and technical assessment of HV and MV substations;
* Construction supervision; development of installation procedures and method statements;
* Commissioning supervision;
* Witnessing factory testing;
* Feasibility and techno-economic studies (substations, distribution systems, etc.);
* Design studies and calculations (load flow, short-circuit, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, busbar design, etc.);
Requirements
* Bachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized institution (Master's degree in power systems, an asset);
* ‎5 to ‎10 years of relevant experience, particularly related to power stations and/or substations;
* Exceptional academic and professional record;
* Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results;
* Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
* Client focused, highly autonomous, and ability to work under pressure;
* Comprehensive understanding of power system fundamentals;
* Knowledge or experience in HVDC, FACTS, or HV Cables, an asset;
* Eligibility for registration with a Professional Order of Engineers;
* Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CSA standards for electrical equipment and installations;
* Availability for short trips to construction sites, factories, client's offices, in Canada, international and overseas.
* Fluency in English and French languages, both spoken and written. Additional languages will be considered an asset.
* Proficiency in the following (or similar) software tools, an asset: ETAP, CYMECAP, AUTOCAD
