* Job Purpose:
This role holder is responsible for providing specialist legal and procedural
advice on all transactions pertaining to the allocated Entity as well as
ensuring that the transactions comply with the local legal standards in order
to safeguard Otis - Entity's interests. This role is also responsible for
undertaking the legal due diligence process for all corporate transactions and
representing the Entity in any litigation or legal conflict arising within the
allocated region. The role holder shall carry out his duties in accordance
with the stipulated business policies and procedures.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Provides management information and insights on all dimensions of business performance to facilitate discussion and decision making, both on a periodic basis and for ad-hoc management requests.
* Provides inputs and supports the preparation of the annual budget for own department, tracks expenditure and ensures adherence to the budget.
* Supports the development of the workforce plan for own department by providing inputs based on workload analysis and forecasting trends.
* Assists in the implementation of Otis's vision, mission and cultural values across all employee groups in the department.
* Implements and monitors approved department policies, procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering quality, cost-effective services.
* Represent the Company in litigation in Saudi Courts
* Provides departments across Otis - Entity with legal advice on routine operating matters and compliance issues in order to ensure that their actions are in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Provides legal counsel, opinions and advice for structuring all contracts for the allocated Otis - Entity in order to ensure that they are legally secure and compliant.
* Undertakes legal due diligence process for all transactions including advising, preparing relevant documentation, checking for the conditions and reviewing the same before issuing a legal opinion in order to safeguard Otis - Entity's interests.
* Examines and highlights discrepancies and risks in documents received from all departments for review in order to enable subsequent corrective action.
* Prepares, amends and negotiates contracts, agreements and documentation necessary at all stages from initiating, extending and closing contract with clients in order to ensure smooth functioning of Otis - Entity operations.
* Conducts legal research and prepares technical notes on legislative and regulatory changes in the Otis - Middle East's member countries (such as trade agreements and subsidies) and their impact on operations in order to enable the Legal Department to provide an informed opinion to Otis - Middle East's senior leadership and board and minimize the legal risk.
* Assists Otis - Entity during recovery discussions with clients as well as advising on restructuring of deals from a legal standpoint or litigation as final recourse.
* Manages the provision of credible and effective representation in litigation proceedings that may arise on account of contractual disputes for the Otis - Entity by working with local legal service providers.
* Liaises with locally based legal service providers on behalf of Otis - Entity to source advice on its legal rights and obligations under local laws to ensure compliance with trade legislations in the concerned jurisdictions.
* Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the reporting manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year.
* Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the reporting manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended.
* Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role.
* Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.
* Minimum Qualifications, Experience And Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent Master's degree in Law from USA, UK, Australia or New Zealand Relevant membership in a Saudi Bar Association (ability to represent the Entity in Saudi Courts) ‎3 - ‎5 years of relevant experience in litigation - preferably construction litigation At least ‎3 years of experience in law firms - international law firms preferred Fluent written and spoken English & English essential
