Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has an immediate opening for an Equipment
Inspector* in Dubai (JAFZA).
This role is ideal for someone with a
background in mechanics who is knowledgeable with conducting heavy equipment
inspections. No auction experience is needed to work in this role, and lots of
training will be provided.
The Opportunity:
* Precisely gather and verify equipment inventory information (e.g. contract proofs, equipment additions, serial numbers, etc) related to the Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) Program.
* Be responsible for assessing equipment and composing photos for the DEI Program.
* Verify all equipment descriptions based on the Equipment Standards Manual.
* Identify and record all equipment components, accessories, and asset details.
* Perform visual inspection (e.g. wear points, damage, hour meter readings, etc) and functional testing (e.g. basic operations of the asset) on equipment related to the DEI Program.
* Assist the Sales Team (e.g. Territory Managers) with equipment appraisals.
* Be responsible and accountable for quality assurance of equipment data input and associated information of inspected assets.
* Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is a top priority for all.
* Assist the Sales team with appraisals and write-ups in the field between peak periods.
* Provide assistance as required to the DEI Team.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager.
* Actively support the RB Unreserved Commitment to Safety: to send everyone home, every day, the way they came to work, by taking personal responsibility for your safety and safety of your team, co-workers, and customers.
Here's what you bring:
* You have at least ‎5 years of experience in equipment management (inspections, inventory, and appraisals) and/or inventory control management, preferably in the auction or heavy equipment business.
* High school graduate with some post-secondary education is considered an asset, such as a Technical Diploma or Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate.
* Intermediate proficiency level using current MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel).
* Proficiency in using technology such as computers and digital cameras.
* Strong written, spoken, listening, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
* Experience operating heavy equipment would be ideal but is not required. Forklift certification is an asset.
* Proven ability to effectively interface with Sales and Operational teams, as well as customers. You must have a strong customer service orientation.
* You must be process-oriented, hands-on, and ready to roll up your sleeves to succeed in this role.
* Excellent organizational skills, you're the type that leaves no detail unattended.
* You thrive on achieving results without ever sacrificing integrity.
* Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and self-directed.
* Ability to think quickly and make decisions on your feet.
* Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task multiple projects and initiatives effectively and prioritize work are essential.
* Highly capable of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure, ever-changing environment. You must also have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
* Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. You thrive working as part of a team and pitch-in wherever needed.
* You have a strong work ethic without sacrificing your sense of humor or your ability to have fun on the job.
This job will require you to:
* Maintain a valid, clean driver's license
* Work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and climb on and off large equipment and trucks
* Work regular overtime, including weekend hours, at onsite auction sales. You can expect to work extra hours prior to each sale, during each sale, and for after each sale.
