The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-
end operational support, advisory services and other solutions to operating
entities across the Secretariat, including departments, offices away from
headquarters, peace operations, and regional commissions. Under the strategic
guidance of the Department of Operational Support (DOS), the Kuwait Joint
Support Office provides efficient and client-oriented services with the goal
of providing transactional, non-location dependent administrative services to
its client entities in the field. These include transactional elements of
human resources, finance, travel and payroll.
This position is located in the Kuwait Joint Support Office (KJSO). Under the
direct supervision of the Chief Travel Officer, and under the overall guidance
of the Chief KJSO.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Travel Assistant FS-5 will carry out the
following duties:
Communication:
* Speaks and writes clearly and effectively

* Identifies clients' needs and matches them to appropriate solutions
* Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients' environment to keep informed and anticipate problems
* Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects
* Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client
Education
High school or equivalent diploma is required. Technical or vocational
certificate in the field of business administration or travel and related
matters is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the
field of travel related matters is required.
Experience in SAP Travel Module and experience as Travel Processing Officer
(TPO) and/or Local Process Expert - Trainer (LPE-T) is required.
Knowledge and experience of Non-staff travel, including, for UMOJA Group
Travel for IUP Contingents and for large groups of Meeting Participants is
desirable.
Experience working in a conflict or post-conflict setting for the UN or an
International Organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations
Secretariat.
For this position, fluency in English is required.
Note: "Fluency" equals a rating of 'fluent' in all four areas (speak, read,
write, and understand) and "Knowledge of" equals a rating of 'confident' in
two of the four areas
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an informal assessment exercise
and/or interview.
Special Notice
• This position is temporarily available for a period of six (6) Months. If
the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat,
the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
