DESCRIPTION
Job Scope
* Develops R&D/TM roadmap for assigned program, including in validation, scoping, and prioritization of challenges, through workshops with assets
* Defines project charters based on technical challenges, and provides input in shaping overall R&D direction for the research program
* Provides advice to Program Head on mode of R&D project delivery (i.e. in-house vs. external collaboration) as well as project needs (research capabilities, laboratory specifications, equipment requirements)
* Identifies and highlights potential risks and issues related to R&D project portfolio for assigned program, and implements mitigation actions
* Leads R&D project definition by validating challenge with asset personnel as per defined timelines
* Presents project charter/ pre-proposal/ proposal to Technical Advisory Committee for Strategic Collaboration (TAC), for approval and mode of execution (in-house, MRA, or tendering)
* Leads project initiation including in organizing project kick-off meetings with asset personnel and collaborator, and finalizing project plans
* Reviews collection and validation process for samples and data requirements in coordination with Upstream asset personnel (Production Operations, Field Development etc.) to comply with relevant standards and requirements
* Executes and supervises laboratory experiments, and develops / conducts numerical models
* Reviews data analysis from lab experiments, pilot plant, models, and/or asset operations, and documents results
* Supervises and authors write-up of technical reports, conference and peer-reviewed papers, and presents outcomes to relevant project stakeholders. Ensures all aspects of research projects undertaken in-house meet specified regulations / standards, including safety and environmental requirements
* Monitors progress of collaboration projects, and participates in project governance to ensure conformance with collaboration agreements. Reviews project deliverables / recommendations by collaborator, and coordinates project outcome approval with assets
* Identifies and manages Intellectual Property generated as well as commercialization initiatives to protect and safeguard company's best interests.
* Leverages collaborators relationships to keep abreast of latest developments in the Upstream Oil & Gas sector within industry.
* Participates in industry seminars, conferences, technical workshops, consortia, professional societies, and disseminates knowledge to concerned groups and teams through seminars or workshops
* Assesses capabilities of external collaboration partners by visiting facilities of strategic and project partners
Minimum Requirements
PhD degree in research program related field (Upstream Oil & Gas related).
* 15+ years of professional work experience.
* 4 years of research experience in the program (Post-PhD)
* In-depth understanding of program-related challenges and best practices in the oil and gas industry
* Hands-on experience in operating laboratory equipment
* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams across multiple projects
* Ability to work effectively in an embryonic environment
* Problem solving mind-set with drive for value creation
* Strong interpersonal, team work and communication skills
