Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
Ensure implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital
Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and
Guidelines
Diagnosis and treatment of patients referred to department and responsible to
run his/her own clinic.
Responsible to provide the highest quality of service to the patients under
his/her care within the resources provided by the program
Responsible to investigates, diagnoses and treats medically and/or surgically
all
patients referred to him /her with conditions problems appropriate to his
specialty and will determine the need for clinical investigations and
physiological testing appropriate to making his diagnosis, and will undertake
the management of the patient's condition, with appropriate follow up.
The Specialist will undertake interventional procedures, as part of the
patients' treatment and/or to reach a diagnosis, where appropriate, in line
with his delineated clinical privileges.
Provide supervision to the department registrars working in ER, ward and
NICU.
Help in professional development of all staff and Provide teaching materials
as part of the professional development of the staff.
Ensure safety of patients and staff
Set up a coordinated management system for the department.
Lead the resuscitation process during CODE BLUE pediatric cases while on call.
Set up with cooperation from the Head Nurse, a triage system that suits the
local
community without jeopardizing the private nature of the service.
Responsible for directing, planning, managing, and coordinating operations for
the patient care activities.
Responsible for maintaining a working environment that promotes high
standards for patient care, customer service, and ethical behavior.
Provides leadership for organizational performance improvement activities
Plans for the provision of orientation, in service and continuing education
programs, along with other consultants of the department.
Participates in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care
needs.
Attends regularly scheduled meeting for the improvement of patient care
services and delivery.
Maintains strictest confidentiality
Co-ordinates and exercises overall professional control over the activities of
Medical Registrars for ensuring that sound administrative and professional
standards of medical practice are maintained
Provides overall responsibility for all medical in-patients, out patients and
emergencies. Conducts regular ward rounds on all patients.
Answer calls from the wards regarding conditions related to care given to the
patient.
Accept all other additional assignments found necessary by the Head of
Department
