JOB DESCRIPTION
Designation: Mason
Section/Department: Maintenance / Engineering
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Engineer
Purpose and Scope of the Job
Perform general construction, such as laying out, setting-up, and carrying
through operations necessary to complete difficult jobs related to masonry as
per hospital repairs project in hospital facilities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
‎1 Follow and abide safety guidelines as applied per hospital policies and
procedures.
‎2 Selecting appropriate tools and materials to complete masonry jobs, cutting
stone/brick to appropriate size to ensure proper bonding and fit.
‎3 Plastering and applying glazed and unglazed ceramic tiles.
‎4 Reading, interpreting, and explaining manuals, work orders, blueprints, and
drawings.
‎5 Using and maintaining tools and equipment typically used in masonry, Using a
gauge line, spirit level, and plumb bob in obtaining straight courses.
‎6 Using a variety of hand and power tools such as brick or napping hammer,
brick or skill saw in cutting and shaping brick and axe, pick, chisel, and
hammer in cutting or shaping stone.
‎7 Maintaining and repairing walls, floors, and partitions including corners,
sills, lintels, and arches.
‎8 Maintaining and repairing slap walks, stairs, manholes, catch basins etc as
necessary required by the hospital.
‎9 May be designated according to type of work performed.
‎10 Ensures quality and patient safety practices are followed.
‎11 Provides or promotes people centered care.
‎12 Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to
patients and families with special needs.
‎13 Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications, Competences and Skills
Education: Higher Secondary School Certificate/Trade or Technical course
Experience : ‎3 to ‎5 years as mason directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified.
Licensure : Not Applicable
Language : Proficiency in Arabic and English Languages
Computer Proficiency : Not Applicable
Performance Competencies
* Knowledge of safety procedures for working on ladders, scaffolds and lifts. Correct protect surfaces adjacent to paint spraying areas.
* Knowledge uses tools, materials and other methods for preparing surfaces for paint, and or coating. Identify different types of sealant and filters and apply these to construction substrates
* Knowledge of use sand blasting equipment correctly and safely
