IT Specialist - DBA

Job Summary
You will be responsible for architecting / implementing and maintaining the
performance, integrity and security of a database within Alghanim Industries
for all Oracle and SQL Databases.

Responsibility for Monitoring, measuring, analysis and management of events,
incidents and problems. Ensure that appropriate design and planning of
availability takes place for all new services for the DB’s. Perform DB data
analysis to detect emerging trends and underlying service issues, make
recommendations and help formalise data management, housekeeping and archiving
standards. Perform single point of failure analysis, critical failure impact
analysis and infrastructure risk analysis. Make recommendations and engage
necessary teams to drive improvements.

Job Responsibilities
* Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing and production usage for Alghanim Industries SAP systems
* Performs ongoing tuning of the Oracle and SQL database instances
* Troubleshooting DB Performance issues, fixing problems and owning issues through to resolution
* Plan and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle and SQL database
* Control migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes through the development life cycle
* Responsibility with Physical database design and working on Projects and implementation
* Provide technical support to SAP application and development teams. The DBA is usually the point of contact or Oracle DB related performance issues
* Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database, Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
* Implement and enforce security for all of the Oracle Databases
* Perform database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database
* Provide and develop a level of expertise and solutions in; VMware, Linux, Storage Systems, Networking, ITIL, basic project management and Problem Solving
* Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
* Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
* Handling escalated calls from 1st line IT support
* Manage disaster recovery and replication procedures along with Managed Service Provider
in Addition,

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving

Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree or qualified by experience
* Oracle , Microsoft , VMware and ITILv3 certified
* Minimum ‎7 years' experience in a similar role
* Oracle Database 10g , 11g , RAC , SAP on Oracle
* Microsoft SQL Server
* Hand on EMC VNX / VNXe storage systems
* Disaster recovery for the systems such as failing over and failing back business critical services
* Forecast data growth trends and optimize DB performance
* Able to provision Block storage for DB access in a VMware environment
* Suse linux ‎11/‎12 ,Shell scripting, Oracle virtual machine (OVM) , VMware
* Database performance tuning
* Database security and provisioning
* Promoting process improvement
* Database management and maintenance
* Strong analytical and organizational skills
* Veritas NetBackup , RMAN
* Knowledge of 'relational database management systems' (RDBMS), 'object oriented database management systems' (OODBMS) and XML database management systems
* Familiarity with service models (ITIL)
* System management tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager
