About the job
Summary:
The Senior Digital Delivery Coordinator (SDDC) or BIM Manager will work within
their department, managing and coordinating Digital Delivery/BIM standards
development, implementation and enforcement on all related BIM projects,
files, models, networks, and associated IT. The SDDC will form part of the
practice’s Digital Delivery team liaising regularly with the Digital Delivery
Department, the department Director and the department Digital Delivery
Coordinators on company initiatives and driving the implementation of digital
information standards, plans and strategies within their department. They
manage BIM processes within the practice CDE to ensure the Pace design process
is delivered and enhanced. They will support colleagues with knowledge growth,
designing, and delivering pertinent software development skills through
learning and training and perform all essential functions and responsibilities
in accordance with Pace’s values and ethos and in alignment with our policies.
Responsibilities:
Provide digital delivery leadership / BIM support to the Quantity Surveying
team working at all stages of projects, from inception to completion, in an
assured ISO ‎19650 environment.
Support the preparation and coordination of design work and the presentation
of projects in a BIM environment.
Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new
version releases, updates, and customization of the products, in conjunction
with the digital delivery and IT team.
Installation and support of related BIM software, in conjunction with the
digital delivery and IT team.
Support the digital delivery and IT team to align the hardware requirements
with the Pace design process within a BIM environment.
Evaluate new BIM-related software and technologies for their applicability to
current and future Pace requirements.
Stay informed on best practices for use of integrated BIM software for
building design, civil infrastructure, and construction, along with other BIM
software.
Stay informed on various BIM and QS-related software and how they work with
Revit.
Responsible for management, implementation, enforcement, and upkeep of all
relevant BIM/Digital Delivery standards.
Create, upgrade and deployment of strategies for the Quantity Surveying
department to reach an assured ISO ‎19650 standard.
Responsible for ensuring design processes are delivered to an assured ISO
‎19650 standard in line with Pace standards and requirements.
Creation and maintenance of the software Template files to assured standards.
Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of
all drawings and models produced.
Assist in developing and enforcing digital delivery documentation and workflow
process standards including 3D model coordination.
Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of the quantity surveyors to
ensure BIM standards are maintained in the creation of the Revit models and
associated software.
Plan quantification and 5D cost estimating for projects at all stages in terms
of automated take-off derived take-off and manual take-off.
Help with codification and specifications in response to project needs
Put in place a series of independent internal sense checks and balances that
will interrogate and support the outputs from the model
Participate in the practice’s Digital Delivery Task Force group and ensure
regular communication and coordination among BIM/Revit users.
Report on the Quantity Surveying department's current and projected state
regarding digital delivery/BIM implementation and maturity.
Provide hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production, in
conjunction with the IT team and troubleshoots problems.
Management and provision of training and continuing education as required to
staff on all BIM software, processes, and new technologies through conducting
internal Revit/Navisworks/AutoCAD/QTO-related software training sessions.
Provide technical orientation to New Hires regarding Digital Delivery
processes and BIM tools.
Maintain a high level of competency of BIM software through continued use and
training
Act as project interface, providing support to each project team by managing
and creating content library files and templates, creating, and enforcing
standards, and evaluating project models.
Supporting and auditing the project team and flagging non-compliances.
Support project start-up coordination, helping multi-disciplinary teams
develop strategies for the effective delivery of quality BIM models and
documentation.
Work with client teams to develop pre and post-BIM execution plans focusing on
the 5D cost estimation requirements and ensuring they are maintained for each
project.
Develop automation routines in BIM to support standards and productivity.
Linking BIM to the project Construction Supervision Phase for QTO.
Keep up to date with the most recent technologies and industry trends in BIM
by attending conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM, bringing back
learning and disseminating the information to appropriate teams.
Identify future BIM Industry initiatives and developments.
Identify trends and business opportunities relating to BIM. Evaluate and make
recommendations regarding BIM software.
Support and enhance the marketing of Pace digital delivery design capability
through web, literature, interviews, and presenting at relevant client-focused
conferences
Be involved with industry organisations such as Autodesk University, BILT,
AUGI and other international software user groups, UK BIM Task Force, US BIM
Forum, ISO standards, Local User Groups, Local colleges, and universities for
future resources etc.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying / Engineering or similar, Required
Masters / Post Graduate Quantity Surveying / Engineering or similar, Desired
Qualification
‎10+ years experience in Quantity Surveying / Engineering or similar.
‎5+ years of Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD experience.
‎5+ years of QTO extraction from BIM Models (5D Cost Estimating)
‎5+ years experience in BIM Implementation and Management.
Certifications
Accreditation with RICS or similar (or ability to become accredited)
A recognized BIM qualification certificate is preferred
Professional experience:
working knowledge of international BIM standards and industry best practices
(BS/PAS1192/ ISO19650)
Production experience in design, drafting or engineering
Proven record of delivering major projects in BIM successfully
Middle East work experience, Desired
Working knowledge of relevant standards including Uniformat and RICS NRM
Advanced knowledge of relevant software (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, MS Office
‎365, Adobe CS and related BIM QS software)
Advanced knowledge of at least one model-based cost estimation and management
tool in BIM projects (Cost OS, Cost X, Candy iTwo, EstiMATEit, Presto, and
similar)
Advanced knowledge of project development in Autodesk BIM ‎360
Working experience in Dynamo automation and similar scripting, Desired
Working experience of COBie information exchanges (via IFC ‎2.3 and 2x4),
information handover deliverables, classification/codification systems and
asset management concepts, Desired
Advanced knowledge of all areas of Design Technology (Architecture,
Engineering, Landscaping, Interiors, Product Design, etc)
Advanced knowledge of QTO extraction (5D Cost Estimation) from BIM Models
Knowledge of new emerging technologies & BIM innovations in our industry
Advanced knowledge of IT and digital management systems
Functional Experience:
