About the job
The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime is an independent
civil society organization, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with offices
in Austria, South Africa, and Malta, and a globally dispersed Secretariat. The
GI-TOC comprises a network of ‎500 independent global and regional experts
working on human rights, democracy, governance, and development issues where
organized crime has become increasingly pertinent. The Global Initiative
provides a platform to promote greater debate and innovative approaches as the
building blocks to an inclusive global strategy against organized crime. The
GI-TOC commissions and shares research globally; curates a robust resource
library of ‎2,000 reports and tools specific to organized crime; and uses its
tremendous convening power to unite both the private and public sectors
against organized crime.
Job Summary
The Global Initiative currently has a vacancy for a Research Analyst or Senior
Research Analyst (depending on level of experience) with experience in
relevant field(s). This can include minerals and extractives (mining and
supply chains), organized crime, or economics. Dynamism will be important in
the role. Given the transnational nature of the GI-TOC and wide-ranging topic
matter, the successful candidate will be asked to cover a wide range of
research topics and geographies falling under the extractives programme. The
job is open to individuals at an Analyst or Senior Analyst level, with the
final position offered dependent on the experience and expertise of the
successful applicant.
Main responsibilities and specific tasks
Research and Analysis (desk based)
Drafting research reports and other written outputs
Contributing to or leading studies on minerals and extractives
Assisting with preparation of donor reports and other internal and external
publications
Potential for conducting field work and managing research teams
