Syntax Group is seeking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Correction
Management Engineer, with strong technical skills and teamwork spirit, to join
our professional services team in Kuwait.

The Patch Management Engineer is responsible for providing patch related
support to meet the latest PCI compliance and other company patch governance
requirements. The engineer will require deep analytical thinking based on
research findings to evaluate software patches, registry updates, and
configuration changes to be applied to the various infrastructure.
The Engineer will provide assessment including security, system and business
impact. The candidate must have a good understanding of the security
implications of patching even though they are not a security SME. The engineer
must analyze and predict the side effects of the patch. Finally, the engineer
needs to be able to identify risks and opportunities (to improve security)
when applying the patch in business impact.
The ideal candidate's responsibilities will include:
Develop and improve the pre- and post-patch process to ensure proper
implementation without any interruption.
Score each patch based on risk and opportunity to prioritize. Determine which
patches are more valuable to the organization than others.
Coordinate patch schedule with other teams such as patch team, infrastructure
management, security operations, governance and risk.
Project communication and operational metrics.
Assist in the development of work plans, schedules, budgets, status reports,
and metrics as well as other management communications aimed at improving the
patch management program.
Accurate spot testing in a non-production environment. You must be able to
think ahead to avoid business disruption based on lab results.
The ability to address weaknesses. Often, it will require more than patches
such as changing registry values, working with the firewall suite. Requires
research abilities with intellectual curiosity to know how to address
weaknesses
It is exposed to various IT technologies, of course, to come up with
recommendations to address any security vulnerabilities in the IT environment,
including but not limited to storage, network, security, servers and computing
devices.
Collaborate with product vendors to come up with appropriate patch
recommendations without risking systems.
Assist in the vulnerability and patch management process to ensure it aligns
with the company's business needs and strategic objectives
Review and analyze new requests and work with IT partners, suppliers and
business leaders to understand patch management needs; Partner in solutions
and recommendations for business initiatives based on application
requirements.
Research, evaluate, develop, design and implement patch handling designs and
standards in accordance with industry best practices.
Develop and implement vulnerability and patching processes including package
creation, testing and deployment.
Minimum qualifications:
‎3 to ‎5 years of experience supporting various IT systems, processes or
capabilities.
‎1 to ‎3 years of experience in large enterprise organizations.
Strong understanding of industry best practices for patch management; Specific
proven experience mapping business processes and benchmarking those processes
to industry best practice.
Ability to work closely with business and development and a thorough
understanding of the balance between business and debugging requirements.
Previous experience with SCCM, WSUS or other patching tools will be an added
advantage.
Proficiency in scripting bulk installation of patches, software, and
configuration changes, including power shell automation to improve patch
management processes.
Excellent understanding of network, system and application security Windows,
Red Hat Linux and Solaris.
Knowledge of various vulnerability scanning solutions, programming and
automation.
Experience using automation tool such as Ansible, C#, Visual Basic, database
and Python and Java application development (in-house developed or off-the-
shelf) will be a plus.
Experience navigating the Microsoft Security Update guide entry, interpreting
detailed vulnerability descriptions, evaluating the exploit, and finding
reported issues with published patches.
Excellent written and verbal communication. Must be able to communicate
technical solutions to upper management.
Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
