GTRF is a core product for the Group serving customers across CMB and Global
Banking. The jobholder will be responsible for leading part of a larger GTRF
Operations team in a GSC to deliver an agreed set of business objectives. In
addition to this, the job holder is also responsible for managing and
successfully delivering all site level activities related to strategic
initiatives being implemented in the BS such as Migrations, remigrations,
Contingency and Location strategy, as well as driving efficiency projects (
including but not restricted to the integrated plan) pertaining to the GTRF
Business Service.


The Opportunity:
To managing the operations of the department or teams in a dynamic and
challenging economic and regulatory environment and to achieve a correct
balance between Service, risk and cost management through STP and quality
processing. Staff retention will be a significant challenge due to the
increasingly competitive nature of the Operations; Aid retention through
rotation leading to job satisfaction of employees. The major challenge is to
lead and motivate skilled aspirants in a stressful productivity based
environment with critical deadlines; therefore it is essential that the role
holder demonstrates HSBC values persistently. Developing trust and confidence
within the business is vital challenge achieved through effective business
knowledge unified with operational risk management. The nature of the role
requires effective communication and liaising between members of the team and
also with other department/functions, to enable seamless support to meet
agreed migration/re-migration time lines. In migrating work to the GSC, the
GTRF Business must feel confident that their business is not being put at a
greater risk. Understanding and managing the expectations of business units
will be essential in developing and maintaining this climate of trust and
confidence. The GTRF business service has significant and very challenging FTE
reduction targets for ‎2017. The job holder is expected to drive efficiency
projects with urgency so as to implement change at pace while working in a
complex matrix environment.


What you 'll do:
The Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF) Business Services within HOST
is a key part of Commercial Banking strategy, aimed at allowing them to grow
their business, drive global consistency, improve customer service and reduce
operational risk. The Operations environment emphasises on highly professional
customer focused service delivery, with extended efforts for improvement in
service and cost effectiveness. Due to challenging environment across Group
companies, processing delays or errors encompass risk of serious losses to the
Group and also leads to poor customer service. The maintenance of a prominent
internal control is essential to minimise risks and maximise process
security.The job holder is expected to support other team members in ensuring
all migration of work, into the assigned Group Service Centre, are
successfully achieved and handed over to the Operations team in the stabilized
state. The jobholder is also expected to identify and deliver sustainable
savings as per site Integrated Plan as well as other projects that might be
assigned to him/her.
To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business,
taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory
requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of
new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies. Maintain HSBC
internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and
external audit points in addition to issues raised by external regulators.
Continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking
account of dynamic economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory
requirements, operating procedures, management re-structures and the impact of
new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies. Deployment of
RCAs consistently will be the key enabler. Ensuring all actions take account
of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and address any areas of
concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:
* Good international Trade experience and background preferred, though not mandatory, with working knowledge of the Trade business and the ability to apply such knowledge while dealing with migration/remigration related activities.
* Established team player with the ability to work with others to meet common time lines.
* Planning and organizing skills, which includes the ability to prioritize issues and resolve based on business requirement.
* Ability to communicate effectively with other team members and negotiate/liaise with other departments to aid in smooth implementation of migrations.
* Ability to analyze and interpret data to produce timely and accurate MI.
* Proven experience of successfully leading, managing and developing a responsible team.
* Ability to maintain control, direction and motivation in an ever-changing environment and ability to cope under pressure.
* Ability to work and influence decision making in matrix based environment.
* Effective decision making skills and the problem solving ability.
* Ability to multitask in challenging situations.
* Ability to maintain composure and drive right outcomes under high risk business recovery scenarios.


What additional skills will be good to have?
* 'Minimum ‎15+ years' experience in operations or in a directly related business/function with minimum ‎8 years' experience in leading a team.
* Experience in project managing initiatives/projects through to delivery of goals in a timely manner.
