Job Description

Inventory and Inspection

Upon receipt of the new hardware for installation:
* Inspect the packing for signs of possible shipping damage.
* Inspect the carton components against the packing list for missing equipment.
* Visually inspect for physical damage after unpacking.

Installation and Physical Planning.
* Conduct basic installation of technical solutions following predefined procedures and tasks in everyday activities
* Ability to lift to ‎30 lbs. when necessary
* Plan the physical layout of the equipment using the physical planning manuals.
* Review floor-loading requirements.
* Ensure that equipment power requirements and specified receptacles will be available.
* Survey the installation site for specific requirements for moving the equipment from the delivery platform to the installation area.
* Ensure that all parts and bills of material are on hand to accomplish conversions and feature changes to presently installed equipment
* Ensure that the required power outlets have been installed.
Maintenance of VAS Supplied Equipment.
* Corrective maintenance, upon customers calls for any required service of any piece of equipment currently under maintenance agreement or warranty of VAS.
* Preventive maintenance, carry out routine maintenance on all the equipment currently under maintenance agreement or warranty. Check error logs, and action accordingly.
* Perform troubleshooting, parts replacement, system upgrades and deployments
* Escalate technical issues to more senior level technical specialist and supports more senior level technical specialists in complex deployments
* Responsible to be on call at select times, work OT hours and have a reliable automobile to arrive at customer locations.
* Understanding of the importance of having a sense of urgency, communicating effectively and having a keen attention to detail.
Engineering Changes, FCO and Upgrades
* Installation / implementation of all upcoming engineering changes in the installed equipment.
* Upgrade of machine microcode.
* Any required hardware upgrade by customer.
* Code upgrade and configuration changes
* Perform part replacements as directed by the technical support Center. This includes the timely and accurate submission of all associated documentation, part return within ‎24 hours of the event
Consultancy Role:
* Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
* Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
* Perform Complex preventative maintenance (and upgrade, as required) on devices, and related peripherals to meet IT specifications
* Identify system performance issues and drives the development of tools to correct
* Regular tracking, hand off or receive open ticket information during shift turnover changes and facilitate knowledge transfer
* Follow defined operating procedures to ensure that clients, systems and information are properly followed
* Design and development of technical content defined in the Statement of Work, and Level of Efforts.
* Might Prepare technical architectural and implementation design documents and works with internal team and customers to develop the Implementation plan
* Supports the installation, customization, and integration of the solution.
* Leads project quality assurance activities, including performing technical QA reviews on components for a team and performing QA reviews of code documentation.

Seniority Role:
* Prepare plans for the projects that he is managing the implementation for, and make sure the project is going according to schedule.
* Liaise between the Customer project team and, VAS team, and VAS project resources.
* Escalate any issues or resources unavailability to the Project Manager and the Systems Engineer Team Lead.
* Complete the Installation Acceptance Form (IAF), send to VAS project Manager.
* Act as a second level support for DCCs, with problem determination as called upon as second level support

Technical Skills

• Minimum ‎8- ‎10 years of experience with at least the last ‎8 years in a similar position.


• Proven ability to diagnose customer reported problems, determine the problem in the Storage, Networking, Servers or HCI related, and take steps to resolve.


• Proven ability to plan, Design & Configure Storage, Networking, Servers, HCI and VMware


• Industry certification in Dell EMC, Cisco, Servers, Linux, Windows, VMware and/ or Networking.


• Hands on experience with DELL EMC and Vendor storage and host base technologies


• Demonstrated knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies including SNMP, IP.


• Enterprise Class Storage Area Networking experience (Fiber Channel Directors and Switches, zoning, multipathing, etc)


• Knowledge of Linux, and/or UNIX system administration concepts including network administration (NTFS/CIFS/NFS).


• Fiber Channel SAN Experience (using Cisco/Brocade solutions)


• Demonstrated Knowledge in Host-based Migrations.

Education

B.Sc. of Engineering with a specialization in Communications or Computers.
