POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Amideast Egypt seeks an Expert to train 15 public universities on the
principles and practice of designing products, environments, curriculum, and
services to be accessible and usable by everyone, regardless of age, ability,
or culture.
The Expert will work closely with the universities staff to ensure the
understanding of the Universal Design system and how to apply it in the
university to achieve inclusivity and accessibility.
This request for trainers is part of the U.S. - Egypt Higher Education
Initiative, Public University Scholarships Program, funded by USAID and
supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, administered by Amideast. The
program is establishing and developing a sustainable University Disability
Service Center at fifteen public universities to support the full
participation of students with disabilities and ensure their equal access to
higher education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Design and conduct a one-day 7-8 hours training session at each of 15 governmental universities all over Egypt with around 50 participants at each university on the topic of Universal Design training. The training should educate employees, stakeholders, and partners about the principles and practice of designing products, environments, curriculum, and services that are accessible and usable by everyone, regardless of age, ability, or culture
* Conduct needs assessment surveys to the trainees before each training to identify the existing knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to universal design among employees, stakeholders, and partners
* Develop curriculum and training materials based on the principles and practices of universal design. The curriculum should include an overview of the definition, purpose, benefits, and application of universal design, as well as practical examples, case studies, and interactive exercises
* Prepare training materials, including handouts, slides, videos, trainer manual, and online resources, that are clear, concise, and accessible to people with different learning styles and abilities
* Schedule and conduct the training sessions in consultation with Amideast team
* Conduct pre-and post-training evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of the training on the participants' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors
* Monitor the training, follow up with the universities, and report the findings to Amideast
* Continuously evaluate and update the training curriculum and materials based on feedback
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Fluent English proficiency
* Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
DELIVERABLES:
* Curriculum that could be used as reference for the trainees later when applying the Universal Design tips
* Needs assessment report
* Training materials and resources
* Training schedule and tools needed plan
* Outcomes and final report
