Job Purpose:

The Manager of Health & Safety will manage and mentor the Health and Safety
team across KAUST. You will provide leadership, vision and support to ensure a
first class Health and Safety program is delivered across all Facilities and
throughout the KAUST Community.

You will be expected to implement best practices across Health & Safety
reporting, Health & Safety Programs, and provide excellent customer service
levels to key stakeholders. The Manager of Health & Safety will develop and
implement clear performance objectives, strategies, and metrics that can
clearly measure Health & Safety outcomes.

As the Manager of Health & Safety you will be responsible for the
implementation of a comprehensive Health & Safety program, including community
and facilities safety, public health, food safety, construction safety, road
safety, and office/workplace safety. You will manage all HSE contracts, and
coordinate the annual budget for associated services.

Major Accountabilities:

You will:

  Promote the development of a safety culture within KAUST community through supervision and empowerment of team members to identify advancements in their specific safety programs.

  
  


• 
  

  Supervise and mentor the HSE team that is responsible to ensure all programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented in accordance with relevant standards.

  
  


• 
  

  Analyze the previous performance of individual safety programs to develop customized strategies, educational programs, and training to advance a program-based safety culture throughout KAUST.

  
  


• 
  

  Identify and establish short-term and long-term safety based goals working with key stakeholders.

  
  


• 
  

  Review current and historical safety performance to identify areas of improvement.

  
  


• 
  

  Track goals, and liaise with specialists and stakeholders to ensure each goal is achieved.

  
  


• 
  

  Manage and assesses HSE incidents and corrective action plans.

  
  


• 
  

  Co-ordinate incident response activities of all HSE specialists and assess the need to update programs, and services.

  
  


• 
  

  Update safety policies for applicable topics and subjects based on codes and standards. This includes having them reviewed and subsequently approved by the relevant authorities.

  
  


• 
  

  Support Health and Safety program-related committees, and chair committees where safety codes, standards and policies are reviewed, and approved.

  
  


• 
  

  Schedule time frames and set KPIs, PIs, and requirements for safety codes, standards, policies and standards to be reviewed.

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborate with departments to ensure that any hazards arising as a result of new activities and projects, routine maintenance, and other activities undertaken are identified and controlled, or mitigated.

  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  

  Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university, preferably in Safety, Engineering, the Life or Physical sciences.

  
  


• 
  

  Preferably, you will have a Master's degree, or related Certification in one of the HSE disciplines (e.g. CIH or CSP), or Professional Engineer (PE).

  
  

Experience:

You will:

• 
  

  Have a minimum ‎10 years of successful experience in Health and Safety, ‎5 of which at Manager, or Supervisory level managing a broad range of Health and Safety functions.

  
  


• 
  

  Demonstrate significant experience of managing high level performance, change management, and people management in previous positions.
