Job Title :Local Operator

Reporting to :CCR Operator/Shift Supervisor/Shift In Charge
Job Summary
Monitor the Operation parameters of the system at local and coordinate with
the CCR Operator in regard to all related activities that affect operation.
Responsible for safe start up/shut down of the plant as per the Standard
Operating Procedures. Quick response during emergency operation of the plant.
Roles & Responsibilities
1 Comply with safety rules and regulations. Be familiar with the fire
equipment in his area. Follow the instructions of the Shift Supervisor/Shift
In Charge and CCR Operator.
2 Familiar with plant P&IDs, SOPs, Work instructions, basic control logics as
well as the emergency operation procedures and any other related documents.
3 Monitor all parameters at local and enter periodic readings on log sheets.
Summarize all activities/events that took place during his shift in the log
book.
4 Inspect the area and auxiliaries during the shift to make sure that all
equipment parameters are within limits. Report abnormalities to the CCR
Operator/ Shift Supervisor/Shift In Charge.
5 Perform equipment change over according to preset schedules. Raise work
requests or defect notes for faulty equipment.
6 Coordinate with CCR Operator/Shift Supervisor/Shift In Charge for isolating
and lining up the equipment and system before and after maintenance. Maintain
a tidy housekeeping in the work area and ensure clean up after maintenance
work.
7 Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions
8 Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
9 Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
10 Report deviations in Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management
System.
11 Ensure proper waste disposal measures.
12 Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Educational
Desired : Diploma in Engineering OR High school certificate with minimum of 4
years working experience in the similar position in Utility or Desalination
plants
Preferred : Diploma in Engineering
Minimum Experience
(Type and duration)
Minimum
Diploma with 2 years working experience in Utility or Desalination plants
OR
High school certificate with minimum of 4 years working experience in the
similar position in Utility or Desalination plants
Preferable
Extensive experience as local operator in any of the following type:
Conventional, Combined cycle, Cogeneration, Water Desalination Plants like RO,
MSF, MED etc., and Renewable Energy type (Solar, Wind Mills etc.) plants.
Desired certification / Job specific skill / Training
ISO9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.

1. Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and
Environment Management system principles
2. Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste
3. Knowledge of Emission Monitoring
4. Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in
the plant
5. Knowledge of firefighting equipment
6. Knowledge of PPE and safety equipment
7. Knowledge of First aid measures
8. Should be well conversed with Power/Water plant operational activities.
9. Communication skills.
